He did. Under the most impossible of situations and with about 15 players at his disposal after all of their assets worthy of anything had been sold, he still managed to put some fire and fight into them and got some near impossible results. His reputation is excellent and for good reason. I'm not saying we should go for him, I'm really not sure about the whole manager situation at all. To say that he isn't good enough because Hull were relegated is just nonsense however. Newcastle were relegated with Benitez but I think a lot of fans would take him in a heartbeat.
I remember when we appointed Ranieri, I said that I always rated him alongside Benitez as similar managers. Most people called this silly and said Benitez was miles better. Funny how times change.
By the way, it looks very much like Silva is going to Watford. A smart move by them I think. They strike me as a very cleverly run club nowadays.
I agree. My point was that dismissing a manager just because they were relegated, as was suggested (regardless of all else) is daft.I know there's different circumstances so you can't really compare the Newcastle and Hull situations...but there's a bit of a difference between 10 games to save your season, and 18 games.
Although saying that, I would have Silva over Benitez.

I don't think anyone actually said that. They did question....
Hull were relegated, right?
It's crazy isn't it? The man was working with a paper think squad, barely able to scrape enough players for a team some weeks and still managed to keep them fighting relegation pretty much to the end. When you think of what Sunderland and Middlesbrough had at their disposal compared to what Silva had at Hull, they really should have been rock bottom. If you can't appreciate what an excellent job he did at Hull, you're a bit more than daft imo
I'd prefer David Moyes over Mancini/Silva/Benitez.
Yawn.

Anyway, regardless, I'm still no more convinced about him as our manager than I am anyone else at present and therein lies the problem. There's no real standout candidates and I include Mancini in that, so it's a bit of a tough decision the owners have to make.
I believe CF is more in need for being saved.David Moyes?
David feckin' Moyes
save me sweet Babba Jebus, save me please
