If what has been reported is true and accurate then didnt shakey and phillips run the show last season? If you look at CR over his managerial career he always has an initial impact and then loses the plot soon after, it was NP team that won the league CR had the sense not to tinker with it. We finished the previous season under NP with the best form in the league I recall a lot of posters on here expecting a top 8 finish until NP was sacked, I was not shocked at how we started last season I was shocked that we actually pulled it off and for that great credit must go to CR and how he handled the environment.

Back to the thread in hand Shakey knows and understands the club, it is about building that ethos also he has the chance to carry on introducing young hungry players that crucially no one will see coming! If you are a talented youngster or indeed cutting the mustard in the league 1 or the Championship there is no better club to sign for than us. CR tried to take us away from that ethos this season to state that the signings this summer were previously scouted just does not stack up, they were unequivocally CR targets and they under performed.

I hope the owners stick with Shakey and we carry on with the blue print that has brought us the greatest success in our history

Aye, he didn't tinker after Pearson left at all. Just a different formation and players but other than that it was exactly the same.

Isn't all this just a fantasy history that people are making up to discredit CR?

Plus Phillips left at the start of the season

Apart from that it's an accurate assessment of everything that actually, really happened

Claudio just sat in Wetherspoons all season long drinking Cherry B

Had he tinkered with Cherry A ?

Same players minus Kante and I was referring to last season with Phillips or are you suggesting that Phillips interview with the media was a pack of lies? I have not suggested once that CR did sweet FA, I have not once said he is not a good manager however if you look at his record it is in his second seasons and beyond where it goes down hill.

Same players minus Kante

And De Laet/Wasilewski at right back/third CB
And Konchesky/Schlupp at left back/wing back
And King/James in central midfield
And Ulloa up front

Apart from that, the exact same side

Homer did KING/ULLOA/SCHLUPP/DELAET/WASILESKI not feature in that season? I recall Delaet being brought back for the end of the season celebration when we won the league.

He did, until he was tinkered out of the team after the 2-5 loss to Arsenal

Bit part players, as well you know - soon weeded out after a few games

You are peddling the complete and utter fantasy, beloved of the lazy and ignorant, that it was Pearson's team that won the League and Ranieri changed nothing

He changed the formation - 4-4-2 / 4-4-1-1
He changed the team - Simpson at RB, Fuchs at LB, Kante and Drinkwater in the middle, and Okazaki playing behind Vardy. Add to that Albrighton starting almost every game, compared to a handful under Pearson

The whole set up changed dramatically for the 2015-16 season

I always think of it that NP laid some excellent foundations for a nice detached house with enough room to swing a Tiger in it but then Claudio came along and said, not bad, but let's have a castle instead.

Pearson set us up well but no way would we have won the league without Claudio.

It was still the right decision to relieve him of his duties this year though.

NP was forced to play Albrighton in the season we escaped relegation as you well know, the nucleus of that side was NP that is a fact, James as I recall played superbly with Cambiasso that season CR selected DD as he no choice, he even admits he did not rate Kante in the beggining and had to be persuaded to play him centrally.

Ulloa, King, Schlupp were bit part players? They were an integral part of the matchday squad through out the season. If you actually read my initial post you will see I have referred to what has been reported and if accurate Shakey was a huge influence last season and was there when NP was building the foundations of that side.

To say that CR was the difference is not true at all look at how we finished the previous season! What CR brought to the side was tactical nouse of I felt NP lacked and something CR was brilliant at, the set up was not dramatically changed it was already there again CR admitted as much!

Pearson employed smart people to diligently acquire all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle. He then built a table for it to be put together on. And then he went barking mad.

Ranieri studied all the pieces and expertly, brilliantly, masterfully, put them together perfectly.

Ranieri then inexplicably decided to unpick the puzzle and force the pieces together differently. Not surprisingly, it didn't work.

Shakespeare is using someone else's jigsaw and copying someone else's plan to put it back together. He's shown common sense and understanding of the sensible thing to do. Aside from that, we know nothing about him.

Yes, we do. He used to play for Grimsby.

Pearson was here for a good few years so of course the nucleus of the squad was his. What did you expect, Ranieri to sign his own entire squad in six weeks of pre-season.

Every time a new manager takes over he's taking over someone else's squad. Doesn't matter who signed the players, what matters is what the manager gets out of them. Ranieri got performances out of almost every player that were not only substantially better than what Pearson had got out of them, but also better than the players had ever played before in their careers.

The great escape was a good run after Pearson finally found a formation that worked after dozens of failed attempts. Ranieri got his formation right first time. Pearson's great escape consisted of beating a couple of relegated teams and five mid table teams who were already on the beach, as well as getting hammered by Chelsea. Ranieri had us beating anyone and everyone all season long.

What happened this season I don't know, but anyone trying to discredit Ranieri's performance last season is an idiot, plain and simple.

So back to thread would you employ him ?

I'll reserve judgement until the end of the season. As it stands, it looks like the options are to retain the existing culture and approach under Shakespeare or move on from it altogether under a new manager who will shake the whole club up.

If we continue to pick up results for the remainder of the season and finish with 45+ points, Shakespeare has to be given the chance to do the job next season. We should be wary of prematurely throwing away the culture that makes this club winners.

I'd be very surprised if Shakespeare turns out to be the long term answer though. I think if our owners are as smart as they seem to be, they should be sounding out a few people around the world with the talent to come in and establish this club in the top half of the Premier League. If they find someone special, I'd support them bringing in a new era this summer. More likely, the following year though.

Aye, like.
