I am confused. When the Academy were booed, we had a thread complaining (quite correctly) about the lack of support for our young players: why then do we not give them some encouragement when they get into the first team?

I'm confused by your confusion, I really don't see the connection at all.
Just because somebody disagrees with booing, does not mean that they can't then give a critical assessment of a player's performance. Regardless of the level and regardless of whether that player came through the youth system or not.

He can't take a corner that's for sure.
Correct. But he is the worst header of a ball for a guy of 6 ft 2 I have ever seen. Thats when on the odd occasion he does challenge for a header. He doesnt work hard enough. Has a good touch and can show a flash of quality every now and again. When HE feels like it

Mark de Vries?

Gallagher worse. At least De Vries went in for a header. Gallagher s**ts out of most challenges in the air. Pathetic for a pro footballer

I think the reason why people critisize King so much is because of his style of play. He seems to go anonymous, because he is the kind of player who takes up positions to block passes, which is a skill in itself. He is a good defensive midfielder who occasionally gets forward, but isn't very flashy on the ball. He does the imple stuff and does it well. If yu watch him for about ten minutes during a game you can see what he does for the team.

I am glad he is staying if the story is true.

We need someone to break into the box when the ball is wide. King doesnt do that enough. If Wellens is playing in front of the back four to break up the play, King is, to a point, redundant. 11 goals last year suggests he can do it, but he needs to do more to get involved more in games. Start controlling the midfield more

We shouldnt really expect anything from King untill next season when he has has a full year of championship football under his belt. Then we can start being so critical.

Young players need time to develop and a lot of people seem to forget that.

However, he does go missing in some games and everyone has the right to voice an opinion on this. He needs to be able to take the criticism otherwise he will never take it.

Good job he is staying, despite a lot of people not like him I think he has a lot of potential and with the right nurturing he can turn into an essential player for us.

It would appear that we have very little cash available to bring in reinforcements, and IMO we need to freshen up the squad, to do that we may well have to sell one of our more saleable assets to allow NP to bring in 3 or 4 players to improve the overall side and to try and consolidate our challenge for the play offs.

Dependent on what Villa offer, selling King might be seen to be less risky than getting rid of Fryatt.

Who know's if we can get a couple of million and maybe even loan him back until the end of the season, it could give Pearson the opportunity to bring in 2 or 3 quality loan signings.

The last two million that we had to spend brought in Wellens, a player too similar to those we already had, and Galagher, who doesn't fit in to City's team. I think that I'd rather keep, and grow, talented players.

Me too. King has the potential to be a very good player. Anyone we bring in will be " what you see is what you get ". The very good players are out of our budget - £2 million won't bring in anyone better than we have got.

nah, he was a fat midget with no neck....once Johnny Depp had already finished a shite remake of the chocolate factory Porter had no career

Was? He's still under contract here! Besides, Impey=no neck.
