Anyone else noticed this nugget of info on OS.

Andy Welsh of Sunderland is on his way here on loan, decent player for this division. If I remember rightly didnt he get wrongly sent off this season. Left winger.

Ryan Smith going back then??

Seems strange having him and this new guy and I would imagine Welsh might be available on a permenant deal if he impresses.I get the feeling RK doesn't have much time for Ryan Smith.

I don't think he can go back now. I think he has to stay with us for the rest of the season.

Great news...Good player, hungry and a lot to prove. Ryan Smith is a luxury...Welsh will dig in for the cause.

can't ryan smith play both left and right side, maybe nono to momo!

RK seems to like playing Maybury on the Right wing though.

I like the sound of this signing. Welsh certainly has the right credentials in terms of age, desire and experience in this league.

I must admit that i can't recall too much about him though!!!! Anybody seen him play? Any reaction on the Sunderland boards?

If he is a success here i wonder what the chances of us signing him permanently are? I suspect that Sunderland would like to keep him for their own championship campaign next season.

from a Stockport County fan on TFF:

Not a bad player. He always struggled to deliver a product at Stockport.

He could tear a full back to shreds for 90 minutes, get into plenty of good crossing postitions, but then fail to deliver a useful ball. However from what I have seen of him at Sunderland he has improved on that and if that is the case he should be a good signing for you. He may still need to beef up a bit, as he is only small - but if he's on form, he should give one or two defenders a rough time.

they are fairly unanimous about him :icon_bigg

What he can't cross to save his life!!

Big Sunderland fan told me that he's excellent on the ball, will make some goals, but is far too lightweight.
