I thought he got a nudge in the back as he was about to shoot. He should still have done better though. I don't think Sylla would have made that run though, he would have stood still and passed the ball backwards to someone else.

It may have been a howler of a miss but it was a really great run...and it did run the clock down.

Let's face it - we wouild have been happy if had run it into the corner, as long as he kept possession. Points are more important than goal difference.

He was on his knees as the whistle went. I wished he had just shot from the half way line.

Not wishing to piss on anybody's party, but is it a bit of a concern that somebody who only joined the game in the 71st minute is "on his knees" by the 94th?

Only worrying if it was in the dressing room after the game!

I think paddys suspension was only for 2 games so he should be ok

I am at a bit of a loss to explain the length of Paddy's suspension. He was banned for 2 games so he will be back on Saturday, but my reading of the rules suggests that he should ahve been out for longer.

A player who is dismissed for denying a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity is banned from the next match. But also, a player who has previously been dismissed or suspended under the 5/10/15 cards arrangements should have a further match ban for each such previous dismissal or suspension. That seems to me to suggest that the ban should have been for three matches.

Does anybody know why it was only for two?

NOTE: he is also only one yellow away from another ban!

Isn't there some kind of amnesty at this time of year and they stop counting back...:102:

The 'amnesty' relating to 5 Y came in at the start of March.

The 'amnesty' relating to 10 Y doesn't come in until the middle of April.

There is no 'amnesty' for 15Y or 20Y.

There is no 'amnesty' in relation to longer bans for players who have been previously dismissed or suspended for 5/10/15 Ys.

I don't think he was on his knees because he was knackered, he was on his knees with his head in his hands because he knew he should have scored.

From what you have seen of him so far, would you buy him for next season

He looks a decent option, however there may be other players available in the summer, much will depend on whether Sunderland will be willing to let him go.

I dont believe they will let him go when they are relegated. He his clearly a decent player at this level and it is likely they will break up much of their existing team in the summer due to players wanting top flight footie, not that i am saying many of them are good enough for it. I dont believe we will get him but that is just my opinion.

It will really depend which others of their squad they can manage to offload. If more expenses players can't be dumped, they might have to look towards getting rid of him.

It does highlight the difference between the 2 leagues. I don't know why Welsh can't get into the Sunderland squad. But if it is purely an ability thing, then that is scary. Sunderland have had a diabolical season and Welsh looks good in our league. If he isn't good enough for the prem, are any of our players (Hume & Fryatt excluding)? Maybe it's a manager thing again and Welsh can play under RK and not under MM. I hope so.

I expect Sunderland will lose Arca thus opening up a spot for Welsh. You just never no with these things though.

From what I have seen he offers the width we need but he looked a tad light weight on friday, although he was up against Boyce who was a big defender.

is anyone in the top flight going to actually want any of their players though?
