As for the apostrophe why not? I Spell it like that on another Forum.

He could be a Leicester City supporter that belongs to the City of Northampton. In which case it is correct. However, as a shortened term for the county of Northamptonshire, then it would be deemed as incorrect useage

CITY OF NORTHAMPTON??????? It'll never happen.

I do live in Northampton, so the useage must correct. Although move 2-3 miles west of my location and it would be wrong.
