One of our big problems in recent seasons has been changing manager too often.
We need some stability, and that means giving MA some time to build a team without pressure to get instant success.
Most successful teams have managers who have been given a chance, it's rare for them to achieve immediate success.

All the talk of giving MA 6, 10 games etc is ridiculous. If we've seen some progress by the end of the season I'd hope he's given a chance to continue.

If MM sacks MA because MA stands up for himself, no self respecting manager will want to come here and we'll end up with a yes man and the players won't respond to someone they know isn't really in charge.

stability can be overtalked.

if kept levein would we be in league one now?
if we kept kelly same question.

derby = new manager = promotion within year.
sunderland = new manager = promotion within year.
arsenal = new manager = title within 2 years.
pompy = new manager = promotion within year, later when reemploying same manager they performed miracle eascape.

obviously if you get a manager who is doing well then keeping him is vital and you want stability, but keeping a bad manager doesnt mean things will improve.

In MAs case he has had no chance in terms of football games but I think the club needs a situation where the manager and chairman understand each other.

We won't lose ten straight games. I don't think many managers would survive after that sort of run.

But if we're in the bottom three after ten games I wouldn't panic and sack him.

if we in bottom 3 after 10 games I would hope he is sacked.

I agree with Jeff's posts.

We don't know whether MA2 is a bad manager or not as yet. What we do know is that this is a big step up for him and he will be on a learning curve.

We have to wait a while to see if he is going to rise to the challenge or fail - he was never likely to get things right from the off (and surely MM was aware of this).

Some of the signings he has been provided with (I am guessing most were not his own) have not shown up very well either to date.

Bottom line is he needs to be given a quite a few games to see what he can do. The only exceptions to this would be:

1) if his relationship with MM has irrevocably broken down
2) If inside information (other members of the coaching team, senior players, etc) suggests that things are going badly wrong and he continually fails to address them

you saying its better to keep a bad manager to save face? rather then react to a mistake and try to rectify it?

:102:

What makes you think I'm saying that?

If MM has appointed the wrong manager, it's MM's mistake. If MM has appointed the right manager, and sacks him before giving him a chance, it's MM's mistake.
The only way MM can come out of it with credit is if he gives MA a chance and he turns out to be a good manager.

My god I am sick of all this.

Martin Allen is our manager end of story.

**** off the Daily Mirror you are an embarrasment to your profession.

Yes but as we know MM likes to leak things to the mirror so we can assume this is from him.

Do you not think that it might be wise for MM to come out with a statement saying all is okay and that it's full steam ahead. Everyone knows this kind of crap (speculation) is bound to unsettle all at LCFC.

My worry is that the longer all this rubbish isn't quashed in a statement the more chance that it's REAL and that our club is in turmoil once again.

Saying that Billy Davis couldn't stand the Rams chairman but still got Derby promoted.

Imo MM will be loving every minute of it, so he'll happily leave the media and fans to speculate:icon_wink

i remember when i was about 14 standing in the kop after a game. the fans were demanding the manager and board out..... i can't remember the team we played but i do remember it was one of O'Neils early games!!!!!!

FFS give MA a chance!!!

I've got a little bit sick at the back of my throat after reading that.

I think it must be some sort of invitation for anal sex because making 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me' is probably beyond even newts' anagrammatic skills.

It's the kind of platitude that usually makes me give whoever has said it a good box on the jaw, but apparently that's considered assault nowadays.

and a really big businessman would hold his hand up and own up to it and sack the mistake. I can see it coming

The most important thing is to do what is best for Leicester City. Whether Milan has made a mistake or acknowledges he has made a mistake is of no importance.

We need a manager in post who should be given time - proper time. We all know that.

That's the simple part.

The reason that there may be an issue is because of doubts whether Allen was the right man in the first place. I never thought he was and nothing that has happened since his appointment has made me change my mind. It is Milan who has splashed some cash ...and that is positive but I suspect that the money has not been spent particularly well. If Milan or one of his henchmen has brought in players that Allen did not want then it is unfair to Allen and he should be given a proper chance now - even though damage has been done.

If on the otherhand, it is Allen that is responsible for largely unimpressive signings then its possible best that he goes sooner rather than later or alternatively a more experienced person is brought in 'above him'. I don't like Director of Football posts but sometimes you have to compromise.

Didnt answer my point, Clearly keeping a manager who turns out to be successful is the best outcome of a situation. But are you saying keeping a bad manager is not worse then replacing a bad manager?

This is nothing to do with allen by the way as I dont think he is a bad manager (at present) not enough games to judge him on.

Of course I'm not, I'll ask again, what makes you think I'm saying that?

the posts I quoted.

I was just asking you because I think if a chairman reacts quickly to a under performing manager it takes guts as its effectively admitting they made the mistake in the first place, whilst the easier way and often cheaper way is to keep the manager and hoping it turns around.

How long a manager should get in my view depends on how things are going, if we are bottom 3 after 10 games I would be very dissapointed and there would be justification for a sacking, been in the bottom 3 at that stage it is likely there will have been no more then 1 or 2 wins.
