Some of you may or may not be aware that HMRC have failed to pay several Tax Credit relief payments dating back to 2001-2003.

This link explains all. Some parents may be entitled to £529 if their child was born prior to April 6th 2002, and people whose child was born between April 7th 2002 - April 6th 2003 may be entitled to £1048.

The closing date for applications is: 31ST JAN 2009

Hope it helps !! :038:

we have had 5 kids in that time

Just found this ....

You are eligible to claim £529 allowance if:
· You have a child born between 6th April 1986 and 5th April 2003.
· The child lived with you for all or part of 2002/2003.
· You worked and paid tax for all or part of 2002/2003. [Earned Over £6000]

You are eligible to claim £1,048 allowance if:
You can answer yes to the above questions and one of your children was born between 6th April 2002 and 5th April 2003.

Notes
· Making the claim does not affect your current or future working / child tax credits.
· Your marital status does not affect your claim. You may be eligible, if you were single, married or living with a partner.
· You or your partner has to have earned £6,000+ in the 2002/2003 tax year.
· If you have claimed the allowance back in 2002, you cannot claim it now.
· If your final tax code on your April 03 P60 ended in a H or a T, you have already had the allowance. (If you are not sure, please apply and IR will check it for you.)

No, and if either parent was a higher rate tax payer, you don't qualify.

Oh FFS. As per usual; those who give to the government, get nothing back in return :098:

Only the scroungers are winners in this country. (I do not mean to offend those who genuinely are in need of benefits, it is justified and stops poverty.)

I haven't been able to find anything on maximum earning limits, just minimum. You got a link MG ??
At the bottom of your link:

"It was tapered away at the rate of £2 of Children's Tax Credit for £3 of income that exceeded the basic rate income tax threshold (£29,900). So the higher your income the less Children's Tax Credit became due."

So one link says from £29,900 the other says those earning £34,615 at the time.:102:

Also for anyone having a baby after march 31st this year (I think the date is right) you can get a one off payment of £195 towards baby things and it doesn't seem to be means tested.

Being a parent on low wages doesn't mean you are a scrounger.

Your first step should be to check whether you have already had this allowance. It seems that most people have and they are looking for the relatively few that have not.
