Need to open a bank account but I've got an awful credit history.Don't want an overdraft or nothing fancy just somewhere that I can pay money into and withdraw it.Do such banks exist nowadays ?

Try HSBC. I have a lot of my stuff with them and they are one of the more secure banks at the moment.

You will hear good and bad stories about all of them though.

Stick in an Icelandic bank, very secure.

Seriously HSBC seem ok to me...going off my family's experience.

When my dad went bankrupt (a few years ago now i must admit). im pretty sure the only banks he could use were the co-op or the post office. Not good if you are being paid by cheque though as the post office used to take 11 days to cash a cheque.

All the major banks have basic accounts that will let you do this without having a good credit record.

I've not gone bankrupt..yet.I don't think the PO have a bank anymore do they ? Fecking how low have I sunk having to bank with the Post Office ? A Boys Bank if ever there was one.

RBS wouldn't take me.I do have a Bank Account but I want to open a new one iun order to stop the Bank I am with getting their hands on my wages when I start a job

They should do, banks are supposed to give everyone access to basic accounts, as long as you're not bankrupt.
Did you apply for a normal account or tell them you want a basic account?

It was when I came up here,even for A basic account they wouldn't take me.As long as I know that there are Banks that will take me on then it's ok

Take you pay cheque there and get cash for it.

Have you got 15 types of valid id?
