BAFANA Bafana striker Bernard Parker is set to join England Championship side Leicester City today where he is hoping to get regular game time.

Parker impressed coach Sven-Goran Eriksson during trials last month.

Parker, who is now on the books of FC Twente where he has been inactive, was recommended to Leicester by his former coach at Thanda Royal Zulu Johan Eriksson, son of the former England coach.

The board of Leicester meets today when Eriksson will ask them to sign Parker on.

Parker won the Dutch league gold medal with Twente despite not playing last season He could not be reached for comment.

Championship side Leicester will tell Bernard Parker tomorrow whether they want him on loan from FC Twente. Leicester, now coached by Sven-Goran Eriksson, are lying in a precarious 17th spot in the 24-team Championship.

Said Parker's agent, Mike Makaab: "The Leicester board will make a decision by tomorrow. He needs game time, because he's a seriously talented player. I'm surprised Twente haven't used him more, but that's their choice. Leicester would have an option to sign him at end of season if the deal goes through."

"Eriksson was very impressed with him during his trial. He likes his attitude, and Bernard scored in a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa."

Is this a big name signing or are "big name signings" just Club spin?

A signing from Scotland and now a player from a Dutch team's reserves. Remember you can renew your season tickets next month folks....

That was awesome. Unlikely to be on that scale. More likely to be a full international like Kaebi!

Also, am I the only one who gets the impression this is a back up incase another deal falls through? Otherwise if a bid had been accepted why not just close the deal and offer him a contract?
