Best vocal performances

Been listening to some favourite music today and I got to thinking about what the best vocal performances would be.

Songs like Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers would be pretty hard to beat I reckon. Or Elvis with If I Can Dream perhaps? Freddie Mercury could be pretty amazing too.

I want to compile a 'Greatest Vocal Performances' disc - any suggestions as to what should be on it?

I know this is all subjective, but I'm more than a bit disappointed with your choices Profosaurus. Very mundane and as for invoking the Pavarotti, that deserves a slap, Nessun Dorma is just soulless shouting
