Newquay or St Ives Cornwall. Many a kids summer holiday spent there.

An arse to get to in summer traffic but well worth it.

Blackpool horrible place went once wouldnt go again. Freezing ,pissing down, blowing a gale and infested with the peasant underclass.

Now infested with utter ****s carrying surf boards pretending to be 'totally rad, dude'

Wankers

Agree. Been to Burton Bradstock / Bridport area last two years and whole family loved it. Blackpool is shit on a stick.

Couple of years ago I spent a beautiful hot summers day at Lulworth Cove. I could have been on a Greek Island, the water was blue and clear and it felt positively med-like.

I got burnt severely on Blackpool Sands, Devon this Summer.

When I got back to our digs and went for a shower, it looked like I was still wearing a pale white shirt.

Yeah nice there, and Durdle Dor too. Took them there at half term this time last year. Got the tank museum nearby for the lads, and MonkeyWorld for the girls. Spot of fishing at West Bay, where there is the best fish and chip shop I've ever been to,and Hive beach, where there is a fantastic beach cafe. Sealife centre, fort, along with the usual tack in Weymouth. Shopping and more museums in Dorchester. Fossil hunting in Charmouth. More shops for the girls in Lyme. All this and Palmers Tally Ho, my all time fave beer of all time. Can't go wrong.

Southwold in Suffolk is very nice. The best beaches in the UK are up here though by a mile

Have to disagree my Celtic friend. West Wales wins hands down.

Afraid not,the sand up here comes frm the Caribbean and the sea is clear.
The sea isn't that cold because we are on the Gulf Stream

Well I'm no expert on conditions in the North Sea / Arctic circle, but these guys seem to know a thing or two.......

A Gower beach has been named the most beautiful in the UK by travel writers who visited more than 1,000 around the world in search of the perfect sands. Oxwich Bay was praised by The Travel Magazine for "magnificent and unspoilt" scenery and as a "great place for adults and children to explore".

"Awesome for kids — but who needs artificial highs when just a few miles south hurtles seaside Britain’s greatest thrill ride, the Pembrokeshire coast? This is one of the all-time-great bits of seashore, packing in crags and castles, kayaking and candyfloss, and, most of all, clean, clean beaches. Last year, the county netted 11 Blue Flags and 32 Seaside Awards - Britain’s biggest haul "
