Yes but we did those things last season. And if we could maon about that then why can't we do it now?
Defensively we looked out of sorts and the midfield was, well....I'm sure once they've played together 10, 11 times the understanding will be there and we'll all be lookling back on this match and laugh about how crap it was......

good advice. seasons aren't decided on the first day. we may have not have played to everybody's high expectations but we have to be patient. panicking now is only going to make the situation more difficult.

But I don't have high expectations!:icon_eek:
I just want to see them fight for every ball and look committed to the cause.
And apart from N'Gotty with some great tackling, I didn't see any of that today.

I have heard something similar now for that last three/four seasons. How long must we endure. :icon_conf :icon_conf :102:

one game. one dissapointment and there will be plenty more to come. the majority of people predicted mid table for us. lets not expect too much.

yes it is blackpool. yes we should beat teams like this but its NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!

Funnily enough it was Blackpool's first game too.

your quick aren't you.

Just saying i don't think todays performance warrants all this flack. We were extremely unlucky to come away with a loss and on another day we could have easily won it. We had a load of chances and yes we did miss them but we created quite a bit. Unlike last season. Chambers looked good (shame about injury), N'gotty and mcauley looked solid, campbell and hayes looked lively when they came on.

Come on folks. Plenty of games to go

we are always going to lose games that we are expected to win. thats football. i'll start panicking if after 10 games we're still losing and still cack. remember the start o'neill had!

No it isn't the end of the world, and nobody is behaving like it is.

If it was the end of the world we'd be spending it with the ones we love not typing on a football internet forum, our behaviour is rational, expected and justified. When we spend all this money and emotion on our football team, we have the right to voice our opinion without the away-with-the-fairies brigade jumping down our throats.

Most predictable result of the day imo.
11 signings, but only 3 that i'm confident will improve our team from the shite of last season. More quality needed now, not quantity.
Palace away looks like giving us another poor start to a season judging by todays results.
All in all depressing but sadly totally predictable.

Positive points:

N'Gotty very solid at the back. Chambers was excellent at breaking forward. MDV was our best striker. He had several goal attempts including a rocket of volley in the first half that came back off the bar, a diving header in the second half and was unlucky not to score a couple. We looked much better in the second half when we played with some pace and urgency.

Negatives:

Did not boss the midfield. Only used the wingers in the second half. Played far too slow in the first half. Passes going astray and two players jumping for the same header I am prepred to put down to the 'gelling' process.

i said this in another thread and its kinda ominous, i listened on the radio too the game as i did with a lot of the games last year and to be honest had i shut my eyes and forgot the time of year i could quite easily have been listening to any game we were in last season.

who is jumping down your throat??

i'm merely stating that I think it is far too early to start panicking. my saturday night will be shite now but I can't judge a team or a manager after one game. Your entitled to your opinion as I am. thats why we are here.

If you moan this ****ing much then why do you spend your money. I bet you'd have a shit time if we actually won today. You'd have nothing to moan about you miserable bastard. Up the foxes. ... keep the faith

I'm not in a position to panic, I just have to sit and watch.

I'm not judging the season on today. Today is being judged on all the hype and expectation we've had rammed down our throat for the past month.

Oh, I'm also judging it on a one off football match, and we were shite. I'm not saying it won't get better, I'm not saying we're doomed, I'm not panicking, I'm just saying we were shite.

Some people don't get it do they, some people just can't understand about opinions. Some people appear to think we must worship everything this club does.

We were shite today, if anybody else thinks otherwise I'd be interested to hear their opinions instead of me having mine bashed.

some people think we did alright today. some people think we were pretty unlucky today. some people feel unfortunate to be on the end of a one nil loss when we controlled large parts of the game and had a large number of very good chances. Some people are looking to the next game. Some people ay

And I believe we are partly responsible for our own despondency. We (including myself) are ultra optimistic before the season begins and have high expectations as all other fans do. We expect a great deal when only a few months ago we were scrapping for survival.
