I forgot to mention that the team had a 12-hour trip from Sweden to Austria the day before the game. Are you seriously telling me that just because some of them have played let's say, conservatively, 5 hours of football in ten days, a bit of travelling and a bit of training - that they really shouldn't be expected to take a set-piece?
Perhaps you're right, but that would worry me.
I don't get this "flapping" criticism at goalkeepers, honestly. It was the same with Ricardo, but he never conceded one goal due to it. A lot of it is just the goalkeeper imposing himself on the opposition's attack. If he actually concedes a goal, then fine, the criticism is deserved, but otherwise, I don't see what the problem is.
Schmeichel had a good game today for me.
Stockholm > Munich > 6hr bus ride to Villach. There was a problem in Munich with the freight that had all their kit was temporarily lost. In total they were travelling for 14 odd hours.
The players would have had less than 7 hours sleep from playing the previous night.
Had it been organised properly, they could have flown via Stansted direct in to Klagenfurt and saved approx 5 hours on travelling.
Clearly remember Ricardo punching a cross onto Nugent's foot last season led to a goal. It doesn't nothing but dent a defenders confidence in their keeper.Correctamundo..

When we say "flaps" does that mean he doesn't connect?
Because I don't see any problem with a keeper flapping/punching the ball away.
If he's going up and missing it completely then yeah its a problem!

Actually, it was Sol that did a pathetic clearing header straight to Nugent.Clearly remember Ricardo punching a cross onto Nugent's foot last season led to a goal. It doesn't nothing but dent a defenders confidence in their keeper.
Good to see Waggers is ok after his injury towards the end of last season.

Ricardo came to punch, but Sol got their first.
If you are going to blame him for something, make sure he's guilty first!
Are you Alan Young in disguise?
Well if he missed it or didn't call for it and was caught off his line, it makes him even more guilty of poor goalkeeping.
I can say as a centre-back playing weekly, it does your confidence no good. If we're talking biggest clubs in the country, it slightly changes things. As you go down the division, the emphasis is more on safety first.
.
So Rab Douglas punching the ball direct to a strikers feet on several occasions was good because he connected with the ball?
Well, as a centreback you should know more than most that when clearing the ball with your head you head it away from the goal and get as much distance as possible on the ball.
You don't head the ball down the middle, to the edge of the box.
That's whether your goalie calls for it or not, you do your job properly first then give the keeper rocks.
Also, it was a very good finish from Nugent (hopefully we'll see plenty of this coming season)
But hey, the defender fecked up, striker finished well, must have been Ricardo's fault
