Buying a car

My old little Corsa is on its last legs, and will soon be going to meet the great crusher in the sky.
So i'll be looking to purchase another car in the next few weeks.

My Corsa was bought from Marshalls ( vauxhall dealer) and i was generally pleased with them. A few small niggles in the early days of purchase, were easily sorted without any hassle.
Previous to that i purchased an Escort from Castles ( Peugeot dealer ) and their after service was shockingly poor. So much so, that i'd never go back again.

Just wondered what car dealers you would recommend, or avoid ?

I went to GK Group - based at Pride Park so its a bit of a treck, but they are generally cheaper than Francis in Leicester... if you fancy a Seat that is.

If you saw a car marked up for £6-£7K at a garage. How much usually could you expect them to come down in price

Available car .com, Castle Donington and Sutton in Ashfield has a good reputation. I know a couple of people who bought from there and were happy wtih how they were dealt with. I did go there and although i did not in the end buy from them got a good impression. Fair prices and no pushy sales stuff, or making you wait while they consult with their manager shit.

Depends what it is, the quality, how long it's been sitting on the forecourt and how hard you're willing to haggle. If you're looking at something like a Mondeo, they'll know exactly how much they can get for it, so you might be able to scratch out a few hundred after a fair bit of chat. But that's about it.

Something exotic or unusual that's been kicking around for a couple of months and had no interest you can look for a fair bit more.

No negotiation on price. What is says is what you pay.

Check out motordepot website, nearest one is at Derby. Sensible pricing also, you can browse online and pick your car before going and looking at it. Good way to compare prices before you go driving round looking.
