You never have players at clubs long enough to have fans favourites like you did 5-10 years ago and money is the core of it. The gap between top clubs and the rest is massive, if we get a player worth watching here next season and do not get promoted how long is that player going to stick around for? No longer does he have to wait for one of the big guns to come in to get a big wage, a lower prem club can give them a decent enough one. Look at Connolly and Williams, both have ability, not good enough to be a massive fans favourite, but still moved to lower prem club and presume got a bigger wage.
Steve Walsh, Steve Bull and alike were rare back when they were playing anyway, so to get anywhere near having a player stick around at a club like they did now is not going to happen.

Players do not see football like fans do, I know and old profesional player from the 60's/70's and he said even back then he could not understand why fans were like they were, it was just a job to him. You look at the money in the game now compared to then.

To answer the original question, I can see it being a hell of a lot more entertaining than the last 3-4 years, whether we will be successful or not, we will have to see.

Looking at the poll they are not the answers to the question.

Bring back the soul of the club does not always mean bringing success, the poll answers are surely more promotion/success driven?

Id be interested to hear the reasosn of those that voted 'no - MM is only in it for the short term gain'.....

What short erm gain is there unless the club is successful under Allen and MM? :102:

But the question wasn't can they be successful:102:

Although I answered, "yes," the strict answer to the question can Mandric - or anyone - bring back the soul of the club, is, "no".
The reason is simple, the soul of the club is not in their hands; it belongs to all you lads (and lasses) who turn up to matches and support the club through thick and thin. I used to be one but, now living in the back of beyond, I get to see them live but rarely.
I do not worry about the clubs soul, however, whilst I can read so many committed fans voicing their concern and love for the club and whilst nearly 30,000 of you went to see a final day match against Wolves with nothing dependent thereon.
Good on you all!!!:038::038::038:

we could also be fecked if MM jumps ship for whatever reason, no one knows!

I've gone for yes, Not because I believe we are going to be European Champions in 3 years time or even in the Premiership for that matter, I just feel we may have now halted the slide.
We may not start to climb back up the ladder anytime soon but I have the confidence that we CAN.

i have voted yes not on the factor we are going to be great and win promotion, but the yes is because we have started believing again and the pre season hasnt even started, we are all looking forward to the new season and the excitement in all of us is way above what it has been in the last few season, everyone is happy with milan as the owner and chairman and everyone is supporting Martin Allen, i think most of us are behind all the signings that have come so far and generally the feel for our team is higher then it has been over the last couple of seasons.

that's what i'm getting at. are these people Leicester folk, who will make turning up to a game more of an occasion, because they now how to stir up a stadium and put out players who are in tune with the fans. Not all in their hands. But it can't happen if they are not the right people.

I'm surprised most people voted yes, you're Leicester City fans FFS! You should know we never meet pre-season expectations

I just have a feeling that maybe MM wants to spend as less money as possible and then flog us to the next foreign investor. MM works with money, not passion, that's how he's made it.

Presumably he could only sell something that is viable? Presumably he would only be interested in selling at a profit if its only a short term thing??

The only way he can make money is to make us stronger, ie a Premiership club, then he would have succeeded.

You are correct in a way IMO.

I simply chose the fourth option because I simply don't believe Mandaric and Allen can bring back the soul of LCFC. The soul of LCFC went when football became a money driven game. Mandaric is one of the men what has helped football became the money driven game it is now. That's why I chose that option. I believe from Mandaric's comment that if we fail within three season, he could pull out. If we get promoted within the next three season, we will be sold to a foreign investor and MM makes a profit.

If the question was can Mandaric and Allen put City back up the table, I might have answered differently.

Milan bought Leicester because it was both cheap and an underperforming club with a good fan base and stadium.

Obviously he needs it to be successful but he isn't the man to splash the cash big time.

I too think he will sell the club on if he either: achieves promotion and realises that it will take fresh investment to make the club possibly viable at that level or if he becomes disillusioned with the lack of success.....and since he bought the club for next to nothing he shouldn't take that big a hint.

I believe that the mood at the beginning of the season will be optimistic, positive ...but fragile and lots will depend on the first six games or so.

Good post, fully agree.

Lets be honest it is like a new football club has just been formed.
Apprehension, excitement, going into the unknown, it is all rolled into one.
Same for Milan and Martin they are also starting a fresh with a new club.
I say lets get on the bandwagon and enjoy the ride.
I can’t wait to get over this year and watch this team perform.

I see the Leicester City head on clouds crew are out in force again :icon_roll

just for having a bit of optimism? It would be a bleak old place if we didnt try and look on the bright side of things... I hope for a good season, it doesnt of course mean I will get it :icon_conf:icon_bigg
