when did Arse-anal say he couldnt play?

I don't think they have yet said he can't play in the FA Cup. I think some presumptions are being made.

Whcih is not to say that he will be able to play - just that no announcement on it has yet been made.

is arsene wenger really that scared of leicester city beating his team?

If we do indeed have Ryan smith for the rest of the season, why is it you presume he cant play?

more often than not teams who have loaned players out dont like them cup tied in case they themselves have a mass injury crisis or suspensions unless of course the player could join his 'new' team permanently :102:

its weird really because as hes here to the end of the season he wont be playing in the fa cup for them....maybe they will change there mind now hes extended his contract.....

This is what the FA's rules say about loan players in the FA cup:

(i) A player on a temporary (loan) transfer is ineligible to compete in the Challenge Cup Competition unless permission to do so is given by the lending Club in writing and a copy is received by The Association by 12 noon on the Friday prior to the date fixed for playing the Round.

But then it goes on to say...

(iv) In the Competition Proper, players on long term loan agreements, as defined by the Regulations of The Football League, are not considered "loan" players for the purposes of the Rule, and are therefore eligible to play in the Competition.

Ryan Smith's loan to us would be considered a long term loan, so he should be able to play in the cup and we shouldn't have to get permission from Arsenal.

The only reason Arsenal could recall him would be if they sold him to another club.
