Gotta a feeling we will be at home to Villa,
What was the reaction to tuesday's game in macc then?
Heard alot of 'horton out' chants from the away boys.

feckin hell MK your hearing must be good, makes up for the failing eyesight eh?:icon_wink

Draw made at 1:30 on Soccer Saturday. I'd rather play a team from the lower league that we are more likely to beat. What would be the point of playing Chelsea as we wouldn't win.

Playing a big team would mean a bigger crowd, and possible TV coverage, giving us some money. Maybe even enough to sign a new player before the deadline.

The likes of Chelsea, Man U etc aren't in this round, but I think if we'd got Villa at home it would almost certainly be on TV, and we'd get a decent crowd.

Yeah but surely getting further in the competition would do just the same.

No.

We might not get further in the competition...
And if we did, we could get drawn against S****horpe.

And if we did get a good draw in the third round it would be too late to spend any money we make on a player before the deadline.

I see your point. But personally I would rather see us get further in competitons than a near certain knock out in the second round. I don't care who we play against I go to watch City and I'd rather we beat a few poorer teams than lose to a Premiership side.

I hope for a draw against a Premier side,we aren't going to win it so we may as well go out to a team half decent and havea chance of being on the box.

In normal circumstances I'd agree with you, get an easy draw and go as far as we can.
But a good draw (if such a thing had been available in this round) may have enabled us to buy / loan a player who could affect the whole season. As it is I don't think there's any draw we can get that would guarantee a decent crowd, and I'm sure the Premiership teams will get the TV games.

If so many Championship teams hadn't been knocked out in the last round we could have been one of the unseeded team, so could have a chance of getting a decent (financially) draw. We'll probably end up getting Millwall away.

I really do hate seeded draws though. Surely it defeats the whole object of a Cup Competition. I know the organisers want to see the big teams in the Final but surely if they are good enough they would make the Final anyway, seeded or not.
