CHAMBERS SIGNS ON LOAN
Posted on: Fri 21 Aug 2009
By Ben Campbell

Peter Taylor has strengthened his attacking options with the capture of Leicester City forward Ashley Chambers, wwfc.com can exclusively reveal.

The 19-year-old joins the Blues on loan until Saturday 2nd January and is eligible for the clash with Norwich City at Adams Park on the same day.

Chambers has made nine first team appearances for the Foxes and holds the record for the youngest ever player to feature in the club's first team, when aged 15 and 203 days he came on a substitute in Leicester's Carling Cup tie with Blackpool in September 2005.

The forward has also represented England at U17, U18 and U19 level. He started his international career in sparkling fashion when he scored a hat-trick in the U17s win over the Faroe Islands in the 2005 Nordic tournament.

He collected his first cap at U19 level earlier this year after playing against Spain in February.

Chambers, who will wear number 27, has travelled with the rest of the squad for Saturday's game at Norwich City.

You were a few seconds behind me :icon_wink ... but you were quicker than ... Steven :icon_bigg

Only because I was trying to offer the reader a bit more than just a URL. :icon_wink

Time for him to step up and show what he can do. He won't get many chances for us with the wingers and strikers we'll have.

A good move this as I think he has done well at times but other times lacked that killer instinct so we will see what he's made of in League 1 and if he does well enough he maybe able to force his way into the squad although a regular 1st team place might be too much to expect

Maybe this move will do for him what it did for Nicky Adams and he will come back a much improved player.

Good move for him and us. Time to see what he's made of.

Rare that I'm excited about one of our players going out on loan, but with Chambers I am. He's been knocking around the first team for a long while now, but at the same time not had much of a chance (only 9 first team appearances still, and I don't think any of those have been starts)

Think we should get a better idea from this whether he'll make it or not.

Good luck to him :)

There seems to be a few coming back early, we must have some right shit in the ranks.

Blues' boss Gary Waddock told his club's official website:

'I would like to thank Ashley for his efforts during his time at the club and wish him the best for the future.'

He played 4 games (scored 1) most before the new manager came along so Waddock don't think fancies him. This is a club that is struggling for strikers.

Surely if he was any good Wycombe would have been desperate to keep hold. Never going to make it I reckon.

I agree. Leicester want to continue the Waghorn loan since has been impressive at championship level. Chambers is clearly not impressive at League One level.

It is worth remembering that we will not get promotion with championship level players. We will only get promotion if we bring in players who are good enough to get us out of the championship e.g. Wellens and perhaps Weale and Hobbs.
