How was Hume an utter disgrace:102:
He wasn't playing football?

He was running, jumping and sliding at the opposition. He couldn't find any of our players with passes. He was in the bloody way all the time. He was playing for himself again. He dived for a penalty and then spent the next few minutes arguing wth everybody.

He was garbage today

But according to most on here, the players were playing to the best of their abilities before!!!

How can this be?

And they still are and they aren't winning and aren't good enough to gain promotion. What is so difficult to understand ?:icon_conf

I'm wondering the same thing H.

Today, they played a million times better than they have done. We got a draw with a team in form and up at the top of the league, we outplayed them for nearly all of the game, but Fulop fcuked up and cost us the game.

A few weeks ago we were losing to the likes of Hull and playing dire, dire football. People were saying the players were at the top of their game and couldn't possibly get any better. Well they have, as I knew given the right motivation, they could

What is it you can't understand?

tbh I think that a lot of players might not have as much ability as some, but with the right coaching they can make up for that by having the right attitude-showing commitment and spirit.
Which today they did.

I think the core of our squad are quite capable of playing at a better standard than they have been(maybe only top end of this league, but still better than where we are now!)

Team in form ? They haven't won in four now..The likes of Hull? The same Hull who are 4 points off 6 th place with a game in hand...The players have played to the best of their ability in the last 3 matches where they have drew against Wolves beat Ipswich and drew with Charlton...thats as good as they are and certainly won't get them in the Play offs.We have taken 5 points out of a possible 9,thats ok and I'm not slagging the players but if you think this team with these players will challenge for Promotion then I'm sorry you are a fool.

I'd say some of them are with some better players around them or should I say with a midfield around them

Well if you think the likes of Hull should be beating us, and you're happy to accept that, then I can see I'm talking to the wrong person.

If every member of this team plays to his full potential, then yes, they can push for promotion. However, we know that can't happen as we all have our off days. I don't think the player crisiis is as bad as some make out, it's the management that is the bigger problem IMO, and fingers crossed, I think we might just be turning the corner.

5 players maximum, and the right players, should see us up there for promotion next season.

These current players have got more to give, and I think they will.

Following on from Boxing Day this performance shows that we at least have the nucleus of a half decent team. First half was rubbish all round, we were distrupted by the injuries and positional changes and I was surprised that Charlton didn't manage to take advantage. This I think was because everybody worked their socks off and chased.

Second half we were the better team but once again the lack of quality in midfield let us down. Sheean was rubbish and was rightly substituted, Clemence had a good game but needs someone more creative to play off him, N'Gotty played like a defender. Hayes looked promising but was moved from left to right, back to left and then to the centre, looked best on the right linking with Stearman and Fryatt. Up front I thought Fryatt was great but he really, really needs a couple of goals to give him a confidencec boost. Hume ran around a lot, doesn't he always, but looks lost when played at wide midfield and was always too far from Fryatt when playing up front.

Defensively we looked sound until Fulop's howler, I seem to remember he did the same against Ipswich but got away with it.

All in all 6/10, shows promise.

WHere did I say I was happy to accept it ? The table doesn't lie and Hull are above us..that makes them a better team than us.
5 players thats nearly half the team, one minute you are saying these players are good enough and the next you want 5 players in...c'mon sort yourself out its one or the other:icon_roll:icon_roll

Why do people think that Hayes had a good game? I'm struggling to think of a single positive contribution.
Hume was no better than average, Fryatt was good in the second half but I think Clemence was MOM today.

I don't expect 5 players to be brought in and go into the first team. but yes, it would be nice if it meant miraculous results, and if I thought they were genuinely much, much better than what we've got, then I'd like to see them in.

I expect a forward to replace Collins John, and a midfielder to replace Hume. If that was the case today, I think we'd have won.

I'd be happy with that TBH.

I do,I don't think IH will be buying players with potential it will be players who have played in this League before and know what its all about, hence the links with Kavanagh and Capaldi. Then the likes of Mattock,Hayes,Sheehan etc etc can be brought on as Subs and start the odd match. We had one midfielder starting today the others were defenders and a Striker. We desperately need 3 Midfielders/Wingers.

From what I've seen this season we need LB, LM, CM, RM + a striker. Since we lost Clarke nobody seems do have made LB their own, Mattock, Sheehan are not yet good enough, Kenton did a job today but Capaldi will fill that space nicely. Kavanagh will fit the CM role alongside Clemence but we will need pacy wide players on either side of them. And I know that they have had no service but our strikers have shown themselves to be too wasteful in front of goal. I would like to see a big man to play alongside Fryatt.

You're not allowed to say that Melts, the BM's will get you - he is god after all :icon_lol:

Two injuries and subs in the first 20 minutes when we looked very promising - after this a makeshift 11 gave everything they had, got in the faces of Charlton every time they had the ball, looked dangerous most times they went forward and did enough to win the game.
That people are still on here whingeing at all beggars belief for me. Charlton didn't get a corner until about 70 minutes and Fulop made his first save on 76 minutes.
Despite the gutting ending I was delighted with the effort against one of the best sides in the league. Well done lads.

On another note, that Zheng Zhi really is quite good, he was everywhere. Just the sort of midfielder we need.

I agree with most of what you say, however, we obviously didn't do enough to win. Maybe if one of our other shots had gone in, but that's all hypothetical. A good result overall, considering most were expecting a Charlton win. :icon_bigg

I've thought that the times I've seen him on the telly this season. A bit like a certain Mr. Izzett of our previous acquaintance...

Zhi never stopped moving, looking for space and creating gaps for others. He is exactly what we are looking for in our midfield.

Have to agree with you Muttley, we produced a promising performance cosidering the injuries and make up of our midfield. Well done lads and nice to see Clem look a bit more like the player he actually is.
