In any other situation I would say it was a terrible signing

But after watching yesterday's game I woud say it is an essential one

Shows how feckin' desperate we are
 
A 6-month contract to see how he gets on? With his experience in the game? What do we lose here?

Don't really see what all the negativity is about...

It's only a short term deal, Mattock isn't out for all that long and its better than playing someone out of position there. He'll be out the team again when Mattock comes back, unless he's actually playing well enough to keep him out of the team...

We've made a good start, and so far Pearson's signings have looked good. He's been on trial so Pearson already has an idea of what to expect from him... I'm going to trust him on this one.

Besides, I doubt players are exactly knocking down the door to be 2nd choice left back for a League 1 team...

Me too TBH,NP so far has not done a bad job at all, still 8 more league games though before i will say he's going to do alright here TBH .

A very good start none the less,can see why Southampton fans wanted him to stay with them. :038::038:

3 league games and one cup game Unbeaten and when was the last time we had a start like this,jeff,Boc :102:

Just something to moan about isn't it? The players we've got have had a good start to the season and there isn't much for people that enjoy moaning to have a moan about now.

where have I slagged him off?

All my gripe is about his age. From what we have seen over the years, old defenders never produce do they. Martin Keown and that twat from Man City Steve Howie spring to mind. More recently the tosser with the funny hair from Plymouth, Rufus Brevit or something like that.
I hope he proves me wrong, but supporting this club has made me very suspicious of employing old has been stars.
If it is just short term, what happens when Mattock comes back and gets injured again or worse fecks off to another club? For the short term what was wrong with yesterday. I was told Dyer played OK as it was not his prefered position. We are in a division full of shite teams, and if they have right wingers who are any good, why are they not plying their trade in a higher division. It's because they are crap. From what I have seen this season and from what I have heard, we will be / are the strongest team. So whats with the panic signing?

I think the truth is that there is not all that much negativity on the issue. The vast majority seem to feel that on balance the decision to take Powell on this very short-term deal is one that was worth taking.

not wanting to be negative as I'd say a left back for cover/first team is pretty essential looking at our squad even though dyer did well on saturday......but, surely it would have made more sense if we had gone for Powell on a month deal or so while looking for a loan deal for a young lad or poach someone from league 1 or 2

strange that I'm not too negative on this one as I'm usually fecked off when we bring in someone of that sort of age, experiences have worried me
