Reading round the other threads, I'm starting to think that the biggest problem that City have is their own fans.

Their expectations are too high - they don't get behind the team - they barrack individual players and prevent them playing to their potential - they want to get rid of the manager before he has had time to do what he was appointed for - they are not worthy of the name 'fans'.

Discuss!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the internet and media phone in's give a voice to people who otherwise would (and should) be silent.

And yes, I do see the irony of that comment.

I think the radio stations should vet all callers a bit more rather than letting complete and utter baffoons speak live on air.

no way Joe, if they did that then we would never have had the joy of listening to Andy from Long Eaton and his irrational rantings. :icon_lol:

Absolutely bloody right!:038: :038: :038:

I think your right Boc, but I also think it is the same for most clubs, especially in the top two divisions. If AF at Man U can get booed what hope has any other manager.
All fans expectations are going to be at a level that they have achieved in the recent past (unless you support the trees obviously, then it isn't so recent). I have said this before but when Brian Little took over we were in much the same way we are now with the team needing to be built and stablised, the fans were more tolerant of the signings and the results/performances because our expectations were lower because we had not achieved alot at that point. BL was allowed to grow the team and with the support of the fans he got the results and turned it around quite quickly.
CL has a much bigger cross to bare due to the success we have had under MON, he also has to cope with the fans looking for value for money. I ticket in the kop at the time of BL was around 7-8 quid (if memory serves me correct), at the moment it is 22 quid, rising to 27 quid for a 'Grade A' game so what do you expect. It is much like buying a pair of jeans for 5 quid and after a few washes they fade and fall apart, but thats much what you expected and go back for another pair expecting the same. If you paid 30 quid and they did the same you would be straight back to the shop to complain.
This is how football is now and every manager isn't given time to sort it out because money talks.
Do you really think if Man U's situation of 13 odd years ago, when they appointed AF, happened now that he would have been given the time he was? Can not see it myself and who knows what would have happened to them?
Football fans have changed for ever and it started with all seater stadiums and most of the 'real' fans being priced out of the market.
I'll shut up now;)

In my expierience some Leicester fans are never happier than when they are moaning about the Manager or leading a witch hunt against a particular player.I lived all around the country and while the same can be said of many other hometowns supporters and their clubs it's worse in Leicester.I honestly believe that some Leicester City fans would not like the club to be successful because then they would have feck all to whinge about.

i think all fans are entitled to an opinion. it's our team at the end of the day.

the problem for me is that some of our fans are soooooo unrealistic, if we win one week we are obviously gonna win the league, then if we lose the following match then we are gonna get relegated and Levein should be sacked.

this mentality is the major problem with our fans.

i appreciate this season has so far been very frustrating, we all want our team to do well, we all have recent memories of our team doing alright. FACT is we are now and have been for the past 2 or 3 years in a transitional period. just look at how many players have came and gone in the past 5 years.

we now have an average age of about 23/24 i'd say. and some of these lads look like good players, in time they will get better as a team and i think in maybe 2 years time we may be looking at another good leicester team.

whatever i say won't change anything, but i'm not fussed by this season at all, as long as we don't flirt with relegation too much i'll accept a midtable finish, and hopefully get good odds for next season ;)

What would be the point of sites like this, if fans didn't air their opinions however realistic they may be?

We are no more fickle than any other set of fans, just a quick look at the BBC forums confirm this. We are fans of our club, which is having a bad time at the moment that's all.

We'll be ok though, you'll see.

and the worst of them is a Sheff Utd fan! although there's a Cov fan who is mildy annoying...

Agreed Mr.Sandwich man

I hear that some of the "never say die" fans have actually given up following the team as well... the shame of it

I'm not a moaner, or a boo boy. I support the team thorougly at every game, getting behind them and trying to start chants to support them (which makes me look a tit because at times there is more life in a morgue:icon_lol: ). However, I'm not happy and I don't think it is unreasonable that my expectations are that we should finish in the top 8 of this league.

Does it make me a bad person that I buy tickets, buy shirts, turn up every week (having driven from central London to watch), don't get on the teams back when things go badly, don't boo them off the pitch at half time or full time, and often I go home looking glum...so if I come on here saying that I'm not happy, does that make me a bad person? Because if it does please accept my apologies, I wasn't aware that I had to expect relegation and smile about it too.;)

I like Levein, I want him to be our manager, but I also expect slightly better. If you always set your sights low, that is all that you will ever achieve! Aim for the stars and you might just get the moon!

Top post Silver, we must remember football is a passionate and emotional game, on the whole it doesnt tend to allow supporters to be laid back.

Every time your team loses it hurts like hell and on many occasions has ruined many a weekend, the reason, because, family and maybe pets aside it is the one thing people really truly love and care about all their lives.

Win and you feel top of the world, lose and you feel empty and hollow but we still keeping turning up and supporting the team because they are in our blood. That is why there is such a mixed variety of emotions displayed after a match and on this forums.

We all support and love Leicester City with an equal passion to each other, but because of our own individual characterisitcs we display our emotions in different ways. Some are extreme optimists, and are often accused of wearing rose tinted glasses, whilst others display anger and hurt which often results in being labelled a fickle bonehead. But the one common thing we all share is that we want LCFC to be successful and on the whole many people probably use this forum to vent their fustrations rather than display that negativity at the ground. Everybody gets fustrated especially when there is geniune concern that there beloved club could / will struggle, I am a big supporter of Levein, but after witnessing the home matches against QPR and Brighton, I did start to question whether Craig could turn it around, my main reason was probably the fact that I didnt get home till 12.30 after being up since 5 am and doing a days work before travelling to the game and then back home to Preston afterwards, and yes I was pissed off because I felt that the performance didnt show the same commitment as I had shown and plus I felt we should be beating these sorts of teams.

Now after witnessing a decent performance against the Sheep I feel more positive and I will make the trip down to Watford fully behind the team.

Football is about passion, emotion and opinion's and nobody should be chastised for displaying any of these, positive or negative. It is all part of the game.
