Leicester City spent more on agents' fees in the first half of this season than any other Championship club, according to Football League figures.

City paid £1,067,084 to agents between July 1 and December 31.
The outlay, which is up from £46,117 on the same period in 2006, underlines the transfer activity at the Walkers Stadium, particularly during the summer.

The figures are outlined in the latest Football League Agents' Fees Report.
City made a total of 43 transactions during the six months, the most of any Championship side.

It included 29 transfers and new registrations, as well as the cancellation and extension of contracts and the loaning of players.

The period covers the close season when 14 new players - including DJ Campbell, Stephen Clemence and James Chambers, as well as Carl Cort, Shaun Newton and Jimmy Nielsen - arrived at the Walkers Stadium.

City also awarded six players, including last season's top-scorer Iain Hume, with new deals and cancelled the contracts of three other players.

A City spokesman said: “This figure reflects the high number of transactions that took place over the period in question - including the acquisition of 14 new players.

“It is easy to forget that the fees are spread over the whole of the duration of the player's contract - and therefore will be payable over a four-year time-frame in some cases.

“The figure quoted also reflects the costs associated with players leaving the club during this period.”

Stoke were the next Championship club behind City, spending £931,900 on agents on 38 transactions. Charlton also carried out 38 transactions, paying agents £782,305.

Blackpool were the only Championship side to spend nothing on agents.
Overall, Football League clubs paid £7.9million to agents between July and December, up from £6.2m in the same period last season.

Who would believe that MM was ever arrested in connection with money laundering:icon_roll:icon_roll:icon_roll

The more players you buy and sell, the more you'll pay in agent's fees. Hardly rocket science.

Is there a veiled accusation in that post?
Are you suggesting that Milan has been underhand in his dealings with agents?

So presumably Stoke and Charlton are similarly implicated in that type of activity, as their expenditure is not too far behind ours ?

Agents have their snouts in the trough, particularly if you let them or don't exercise controls. Blackpool paid no fees - that's an extreme example and Leicester are bound to pay more; clearly as others have said with a lot of turnover of players this is bound to result in LCFC paying fees above most of our competitors but you would think with controls in place they should pay less.

Agents are a vested interest and clearly are going to over-sell and over-hype their players. The higher the wages they negotiate, the higher their percentage cut/commission. Given the fees at stake for agents it is very easy to consider how they could try and corrupt scouts and internal transfer fixers at clubs.

The quick and early departure of a City employee after a couple of transfers by that McKay chap - the transfers of players that quickly became evident were duff players (Hellings, Neilson, etc etc), looked a bit iffy. What is certain though is that the big money spent on wages, signing on fees to the players and then the agents cut probably brought those deals under scrutiny and MM axed the guy quickly seeings he was paying good money for bad rubbish.

Hardly a surprise and pretty old news, but a lot of wasted money nonetheless, looking at some of the signings.
