Why has the random oldies thread been closed?

Threads are automatically closed if no one has posted to them for a long time.
It's to stop people from bringing back long dead threads instead of starting new ones.

Where's the harm?

If you don't read everything on the site, so old threads aren't marked as read, it's a pain in the arse when a three year old thread is revived and you have to read 50 out of date posts before seeing something that's relevant.
Threads are automatically closed 60 days after the last post. So they only get closed if they're out of date or not very popular.

I just wanted to post a bit of Bill Withers.

Post a bit of Bill Withers then. There's no harm starting a new thread.
