Leicester City Football Club would like to pass on their utmost condolences to the family and friends of Derek Pole.

Derek, a lifelong City fan, sadly passed away at the age of 75 during the match between Leicester City and Carlisle United at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday, April 4.

Derek's funeral will be held at 11am on Tuesday, April 21 at St George's Church, Ticknall, Derbyshire.

Family flowers only please - with donations welcome to the British Heart Fund and Air Ambulance.
Anybody wishing to send cards and messages can forward these c/o Supporter Relations Manager Peter Jones at the Walkers Stadium.

With no disrespect to his family, if when it is your time to go, watching your favourite team scoring what appeared to be a winning goal at the time, is probably as good a way to go as many.

Just a thought here, but are the club passing on their utmost condolences to the family and friends of the dead bloke because he died in the stadium?

I have know a few people who have been lifelong fans of the club and have passed away, not at the stadium mind, but never did the club pay any such respects to them. Is this something the club are going to do in the future?

Did you inform the club of their passing?

Why should I? I said I knew them, not family members.

well what would you like the club to do then? trawl through all the death lists around the world and check them against their database for how many visits they made to the walkers and give them a mention.

they could have a grading system

0-5 visits, feck em, part time swines
6-25 visits, condolance card and a scarf?
26-500, free match ticket for immediate family for pre season friendly
etc etc

Whilst I always agree on fairness, this is not the thread for whether or not the club will commemorate fans' deaths.
Why not write to them about it BG? I think it's a good idea.

It just seems pointless what the club are doing or can you not see that?
So a bloke died, life goes on.

Why the wisecracks from the stupid post of yours above?

TBH I couldn't really give a shit. It just seems so false what the club did. Most of the time they don't give a fcuk what the fans do or think, but they will pounce on the slightest bit of good publicity.

The art of football club marketing is to act on the basis that the fans don't count except as fodder - but to be able to project to the world that they are the club's first priority.

The poor chap died in the stadium, of course there going to aknowledge his death, its only right and proper, in the same way that it is impossible to do it for everyone unless requested to do so by the family of the deceased.

Yours was the stupid post, mine was just highlighting your stupidity

any death is a sad event for someone, r.i.p to the gentleman and condolonces to his loved ones.

tomorrow 96 needless deaths will be remembered aswell at another football ground under different circumstances.
