Well said dunc. using a facility like that for only 25 days in a year is crazy. Any investment of that kind MUST show a financial return. Our club will not survive if it does not.

Moaners, please understand that football is a business and like any other business, it has to make money, we dont have a suger daddy on the side lines so the club has to stand on its own two feet, you must realise the board are not doing these things to pizz us off. I doubt they want the extra work needed to sort out ground share, queens garden parties, flower shows or concerts they are just trying to secure the long term future of the club and all they get is grief.

What pizzes me of is that for dislike about what is happening there has not been one alternative put foward, not one suggestion. So if you moaners feel so strongly about what the board are doing to our club, come up with a suggestion, why aint you suggesting to the board that they increase ticket price by 100% or suggest that they should settle for medioca football in the fizzy. or find a suger daddy, either way find a solution that earns the money the club needs. The irony about all this is that if the club introduced any of the silly suggestions above, The fans that would moan the most are the same effing people that are moaning now and all I hear is just effing griping about shitty little trivia issues that dont realy mater one iota

The only thing that matters is that board do evey thing possible for LCFC to survive and that they do it well and that means earning enough money and I dont care how they do it, as long as they do it. Because if they dont do we will all have something to moan about

Agreed.

Just a point about the £250k per concert profit! You are joking aren't you? How much do you intend to sell tickets? at £100? and then take a bigger cut than the band? Ain't going to happen. I would imagine we would make about 50k out of each concert which for 3 hours a time isn't a bad return.

RN, what odds TD trying to get a Casino at the Walkers.

And what would be wrong with that? I don't hear many Newcastle fans moaning about that planned route. I suppose Chelsea sold their soul when they built the Chelsea Village, Reading aren't a football club because they have a hotel in their stadium and Lutterworth Town have sold their soul because they held a 18yr olds birthday party last week so our players couldn't stay longer than an hour after the game.

I will revert back to my original point, if you want a football stadium to remain football only, how do you propose to make the business progress to making money, and therefore giving the club more chance of being successful. At the moment the club isn't a profitable business, we are losing money, and relying on matchday income to keep going.

So Homer, Steven etc what do you propose? Another pre season tournament? A sportsmans dinner (football people only) every night?

What I propose is a clear, unequivocal declaration from Tim Davies that we are a football Club that engages in certain off field activities for the benefit of the Club, or that he is heading up an Entertainment and Leisure company with a Football Club as part of its portfolio. :? :? :?

I am a firm believer in the concept of know a man by his deeds. Deeds and words are not matching at the moment. :? :?

A fair point steven. Write to him and ask him to puplicly clarify the company objectives.

I'll give him a chance to explain himself.

It has to be said that given the choice between survival and becoming a conglomerate entertainment business, then I would choose the latter.

But like you say that business must be there to support city and not the other way around. ie money flows into the football and not out of it

All of what you say is true and the Club to need to maintain focus on playing football and not get dazzled by showbiz lights. :? :P

The Groundshare,Concerts etc etc are a necessary evil if we want to compete with other clubs with Premiership and staying in the Premiership aspirations.I don't really like it and it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth but its the way things are going unfortunately and if we miss out then it will only be to the detrement of the Club.Other clubs will do it and we will be left out. However it does worry me as to how far we will go and will the line be drawn at using the Stadium for anything just so long as it provides money.I do understand the concerns voiced by Homer etc and maybe if I lived in the City and went every home match then I might protest a little more strongly bit in the end all I want is for My Club to do well on the field.

You should have no fears about the motives of Tim Davies over this.

The aim of getting approval for concerts has been around since the Consortium took over, however the conversations have always been based around generating more money for the manager to be able to strengthen the playing squad to have a long term Premiership future.

Never has the conversation turned into "wouldn't be great if we could attract act 'x' "

The aim is to get the stadium used as much as possible, get all the suites utilised each day (conferences) & night (people's events) - utilise the boxes for business meetings etc - its all revenue driven to make LCFC a financially stronger club

It is true to say that his relationship with the fans has changed.
