There is some validity of National stereotypes, but not not much. Having co-ordinated a number of EU research projects I can say you just have to scratch the surface a bit to get below the stereotypes to find, in most cases warm, decent people. There are exceptions of course for most Nationalities, although I honestly can't remember any, of my acquaintance, among the Dutch. The Germans are interesting. I've found those from former East Germany generally much more modest and thoughtful, less brash, and with a wry sense of humour.
