You misunderstand what I'm saying.
What that adage means is that if you have some important files you have to store them in at least two places, on two separate devices or they might as well not exist at all, otherwise known as 'backing up your work'.

Without wanting to be too harsh, she only has herself to blame. Flash memory devices like this are volatile & unreliable and should only be used to carry files between PCs. Never, ever, ever to 'store' files.
Storing the only copy of important files on a USB pen is absolute madness.

She usually does do this but due to the time constraints and amount of work she simply didn't have time to store in both places, luckily she has some on the laptop but not all.
