Re: Cov sack Andy Thorn

If they are no longer associated with the sky blue scum I may just visit the Ricoh on June 20th afterall!

i was thinking of going, but didn't want to put any money their way, although it looks like they make nothing from the other events

According to Yahoo Sports, Coventry are facing a demand of 1.1 million for unpaid rent to the owners of the Ricoh Arena. Money has to be paid by Boxing Day or they will face a winding up order.

Coventry City don't make a single penny from any events at the stadium except their own matches (so they don't make a single penny from the stadium), they rent the stadium from the council on match days.

Interesting defence, I'm sure the likes of Oldham, Yeovil and Hartlepus would love to have stadia that would justify such rent - so why the comparison!

Having said that, who do the council think would be remotely interested in a football stadium in Coventry other than Coventry City Football Club? The blood suckers probably should look at their rents...

Judging by the VOA's valuation of the stadium their rent agreement would be more than enough to cover the casino etc and not just a football stadium. What an absolutely ridiculous lease agreement.

Someone took an awful lot of money out of the club. The housing went on Highfield Road during the boom period of house building. New stadium went on an old set of Gas works which were unused and no housebuilder would touch due to the remediation work required.

At £1.28m a year, it said the rent was believed to be the highest in both
League One and the Championship.

In a statement it said it was "disappointed" by ACL's decision to issue a
statutory demand, rather than "negotiate a level of rent which the club can
afford and which is in line with the rent paid by other clubs".

It said other clubs in the league paid on average less than £170,000 a year
and, unlike Coventry City, often made revenue from match day parking as well as
food and drink sales.

Very high rent indeed, yes.

But then why did they agree to it?

Springsteen? I'm planning on going. Seen Bon Jovi at Cov a few years ago and it's actually a good music venue. Never seen the Boss live so this is an ideal chance to see him. Any idea how much tickets will be? They go on sale tomorrow...

Why would anyone want one of their biggest and nearest rivals to go bust?
