Yet another crap first half and relying on impact subs to get us out the poo. A good point considering they were a goal up at HT. Here's what I made of the performances....

Weale -8- Made 2 top saves and claimed what he could.

Morrison -6- Average, didn't help that Gallagher gave him no support.

Brown -6- Won lots, woeful distribution as per.

Hobbs -6- Slightly better than Brown, but only slightly.

Berner -6- Most of their attacks came down the left although he did get caught narrow when they used their right winger. No glaring mistakes though.

Gallagher -4- Apart from hitting the bar from 20 yards he did the round sum of **** all. Lazy, rarely put crosses in and offered no support to Mozza. Conceded the free kick for the goal.

Oakley -6- Quiet and missed Wellens, not too bad though.

King -6/7- Did all of Oakley's running and kept the ball quite well too.

Dyer -7- Best of a bad bunch in the first half, back to his best form.

Fryatt -6- Did okay linking the play, no service though.

Kermorgant -6/7- Won lots of headers, still hard to tell what this guy is all about though as he rarely got the chance to actually kick the ball.

SUBS

DJ -6- His pace clearly unsettled them, didn't do much with the ball though. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him warming up before KO.

Howard -7/8- Immense when he came on, set up Waggamama with a perfect flick.

Waghorn -7/8- What a goal! Like Dickov in his prime the way he latched on to the flick and rifled it home. Pure energy and pace, I'd back him for a start soon.

Saved by two super subs today, a point was a fair reflection on the match. I'd like to see Waggy's goal again, looked a peach at the time.

4 points in a week - I guess I would have taken it, especially after the PNE score!

Personally I am glad DJ is doing something in a City shirt to warrant his wages. I wonder if NP is putting him in the shop window for Jan right now though? Either way, he has proved himself in the reserves, he has apologised (I believe I seen that article?) and he has pace in abundance....

Anyone slagging off NP doesn't deserve the time of day IMO.

Personally I thought it was a waste of time putting DJ on the pitch... he hardly did feck all running and the one chance that fell to him after some good build up work involving a few player inc. Dyer and he fecked it up. Right in front of goal as well.

Tosser.

I hope that was his chance and NP turns round and tells him he failed.

For a neutral it would've been a decent game to watch, end to end with both side have really good chances to get more goals on the scoresheet, and overall a draw was probably a fair result.

Thought we were unlucky to go in behind at halftime, after Dyers shot just over the top and Gallagher hitting the bar, but Weale pulled off a great save early on, and tbf he couldn't really do anything to stop that free kick going in, the lad put a fair bit of power into it.

Second half we hustled and bustled but with not much going on in the box, so it didn't surprise me when Howard and Waghorn came on, DJ coming on DID though, I thought it would be Adams-bet he's peeved he can't get into the side when that twat can...

Glad we got the draw as I thought we deserved it, though I hate dropping points to that load of mongs...

I didn't go today due to not being able to make the early kick off, but it sounds like a well deserved point and a fairly decent away performance to go with it. I did however go to the Coventry away game two season's again under Holloway, and that was the biggest pile of turd I had ever witnessed. Just compare today to that to see how far we have come.

Exactly my thoughts!

In addition, I'd like to say that many posters are moaning about subs, and how we had to sub to make an impression.

As far as I'm concerned, correct and timely substitutions are the strong point of NP's management. And this is the secret of a good manager. Our last 8 managers (I'm exempting Worthington here as he was a temp, but he almost had it) have been useless at this essential part of the game. MON was brilliant at it, and we've missed that.

Managing a football team requires a real gift for mind games. You have to get adrenaline pumping, in the right people at the right time. It's a tricky decision whether to start with someone, or use them as a sub. You have to know exactly the mindset of that player, and whether they respond to a challenge (ie being put on the bench and brought on and feel they have to prove something) or are best trusted (ie put them on from the start, to boost their confidence) and if they fall short, you have another ace up your sleeve.

Also, you have to know, just as a poker player does, when to be bold, and when to play safe. NP gets it right almost every time.

When was the last time, here, that you heard the crowd chant 'Get him off!'? That's the acid test because I've heard this regularly, for 8 or more years. The crowd should not control the game. The manager should. And he should boldly go, and surprise everyone by making canny decisions.

Today's subs were spot on correct. And they got a point. The entire substitution was an exceptionally bold move which also unsettled the opposition. It was done at exactly the right time.

What's more, he's actually USING the bank of strikers, so everyone feels they had their chance to prove themselves.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that Pearson has the best understanding of game-playing since the genius that was MON.

I agree about that.

Whilst we might moan about the starting line-up, at least when things aren't working, NP can see that and makes the changes, and most of the time when he's done in since being in charge we've managed to get something from the game if we have been behind.

But I still think playing that muppet was a mistake:icon_razz especially ahead of players who have worked their socks off this pre-season and into this campaign, and WANT to play for the team...

gallagher should not be included in the next team selection....he was a total liability today

:038::038::038:

Quite agree. Gave away a needless free kick that led to their goal and was lucky not to be booked for deliberate handball. Didn't contribute much at all from my elevated position.

Note to Nigel Pearson.

Please tell Fryatt what the offside rule is and how to keep onside! The amount of times he is caught is getting beyond a joke now!

As long as they actually have an impact I couldn't give a damn if they want to play for us or not to be honest.

It's all about the end result really.

Was my first game of the season, enjoyed it, and very glad we didn't lose as I associate with a lot of scum fans! Thought we were very unlucky to be 1-0 at half time, played better than them. first 20 mins of the first half was a bit dull though! Howard completely changed the game, was immense. My Cov mates were texting me when he came on saying that he was going to destroy them, and i'm glad they were right!
