Serious question. At what depth doesn't it matter if it is daylight or not on the surface? Or does some light still filter down quite a way?

at night it's dark anyway.

Depends where you are. I have dived in Rutland Water and the vis is about 2 to 3 feet at maximum and that's daytime. I have also dived in Swithland slate quarry, the first 40 feet the visability is about a foot if you are lucky, once below 40 feet the water is crystal clear all the way to 200 feet to the bottom, but you need a torch otherwise it's complete darkness.

The Bahamas at 205 feet I could still see the bottom of the boat, but that was a stupid depth anyway.

That's right, Stoney had an algae bloom a couple or so weeks back where you couldn't see your own feet regardless of what depth you were at.
