2: is there any away friendly pubs near the ground and what station would be best to get off at to find this pub!

Thanks in advance

FKA

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the pub us London Brancher's will be using is the Railway Telegraph, very close to Thornton Heath station. Get the Victoria line from King X/St Pancras and then train from Victoria.

The nearest station to the away end is Norwood Junction. Particularly if arriving late, Thornton Heath is a good walk from the ground.

Thornton Heath, Selhurst (same line as Thornton Heath, but nearer the away end) and Norwood Junction all have services from both Victoria and London Bridge. The quickest services are from London Bridge to Norwood Junction with some services taking as as little as 12 minutes.

It may be that the LB choice of pub has more to do with tradition than commonsense.

Looks like there are a couple of Wetherspoons that are close to both Norwood Junction and Thornton Heath.

Thornton Heath

Or it may be that the pub we used to use near Thornton Heath has been demolished and that there are no decent pubs near the ground.

In view of the fact that Thornton Heath is the furthest of the three stations from the ground, it may be that The Victory too was more a choice of tradition rather than anything else.

Is the Goat House still there?

This is what Keef (who some of you will know), said about it. But it was 5 years ago, so may be a little out of date :icon_roll
Would Boc like to explain the horse song thing?

The Goat House, which is the home of the original Palace mailing
listers. Come out Norwood. Have a waz in that underground public bog
at the top of the hill. Turn right (away from the ground), go past
the shops. Keep going and you go over the railway and its there on
the right. Sounds further than it is. Friendly welcome. Sells that
London Pride shyte that nobody likes but for some reason you can
soak it up like nobodys business without needing a pish stop five
minutes into the game. Does food an' all. Bob's eaten food in there.
He's also sung songs about horses in there but I still dont know
what the heck thats all about. Landlord will only serve halves to
wimmin, which is nice. Mention my name if you see Dave.

I've been in there several times since I last met Keef in there - I should think it will still be there.

The "horse song thing"? I suppose I was singing the "To his Horse" anthem - no, I can't explain it.

As far as eating there goes, yes I did. That fact seems to have heightened Keef's interest in Cumberland sausage, dog turd and the similarity between the two. I haven't let it upset me.

Great minds think alike Jeffrey.

And as the evidence is right in front of us, it looks like yours does too

The club have asked for a further 500 tickets.

There are still a few 'single' tickets remaining from the original allocation.

You can pay on the day of the game, and the prices will remain the same.
