By definition, a legend can't still be doing what he's a legend for.

However "Legend" is slowly taking on a new defintion with people of myself, tedfoxx and harbro's age (I hope I'm right in thinking they're similar). Now it means "awesome person", basically.
eg, "Mate, I went out with smithy last night. That guy's a legend".

Yeah.

This guy speaks sense.

I also use the word "awesome" a lot, guess its just how your brought up!

Your what?

How your brought up affects the way that you treat a word. Maybe anyway.

Example being chavs when they say "sick".

If a chav said to me these shoes are sick, then I'd know that he thinks they are good but if he was to say to my Mum these shoes are sick, she would think that he thought they were horrible.

Whereas I would just think he was a twat.

Macky, you are wasting your time :icon_lol:

Certainly does!

I don't necessarily speak for everyone of my age but i use the word awesome far too much.

What word do you use when someone is really great. If Matty Fryatt who I would describe as a good striker is called awesome what word would fit Wayne Rooney. I regard Chris Weale as a good goalkeeper but it would perhaps be unwise to tell Gordon Banks or Peter Shilton that Weale is awesome.

There is a tendency to switch words by those wanting to appear trendy so that the word "wicked" means good. However, there are people like Hitler and Stalin for whom the word "wicked" really applies.

I have been told recently what a great singer Susan Boyle is. No. If you call her great there is no word for Maria Callas.

Blue Maniac has a habit of correcting peoples sloppy vocabulary including mine. He is right. Words are perhaps mankind's greatest invention and we must not render them meaningless.

And I thought I was just being annoying.

You know you've missed an apostrophe, don't you?

I don't know why I find this interesting but we're having a discussion about English grammar on the thread for a Maltese football player.

Wait, don't Malta speak English? Oops, point deemed irrelevant. No worries. And Harbs.... "you're" :icon_razz

No, Malta is a country and therefore incapable of speech. However, the Maltese people do use English as a second language.
