Are we a professional county cricket club or what? This ruling is just a joke. Why not select me i haven't played for a bit but can give the ball a nice tweak!!!As much as we should strive to promote a youth policy, it is kind of ridiculous that we've tied our own hands into not being able to pick spinners on our own playing staff, and we've resorted to plucking ex-players out of minor counties cricket.
We should have ensured that we had a squad that backed up our policy from the start of the season. If we only intend to play 3 overseas players then why have more than that on staff?
I hope Walker does well and take wickets, but seeing as we've already released him once and deemed him not good enough, then I do kind of fear the worst for his performances.
Next year I'd like us to revise the policy and say something like 'we have a squad of 20, 80% are under 30, 60% are under 25. We'll give everyone in the squad, including young players, a fair crack of the whip'.
Allenby and Taylor with a decent partnership anyway 247/4

Spinners tend to improve with age so Walker who allegedly did well for Norfolk might be better then in 2004.
It's been a good day batting wise but I'll be pleasantly surprised if we take 20 wickets.

Me too, and so it proved. We kept it tight but once again (an old favourite moan of mine) our overseas bowler failed to break through!
Good marshalling of the tail by Tom New in the morning - isn't he doing well with the bat this year - shame Taylor fell short of his ton.

Great to see Allenby and New scoring second fifties to put us in with a chance. However, I can still Chris Rogers taking the game away from us really quickly tomorrow unless we can put on another 50 or so in the morning, as I'm still not confident in our wicket-taking ability.
