PAOLO Di Canio believes Swindon have been provided with an easier passage to the fifth round of the FA Cup after Leicester City beat Nottingham Forest 4-0 in their third-round replay last night.

The Foxes are higher in the Championship standings than Forest, who sit just inside the relegation zone having managed to collect just seven wins from 26 games all season.

However, Di Canio feared that a desire for some welcome reprieve from their league woes would make Forest the more dangerous of the two sides, and the Town boss fancies his team’s chances against inconsistent Leicester.

“Watching Leicester play, they have a group of experienced players and maybe more quality than Nottingham Forest,” he said.

“However, when I watched them three weeks ago they did not really impress me, because they seem to have lots of old players who possibly think they are good but don’t have the right discipline.

“Obviously they are still a strong side because they are two leagues above and they are physically strong, but they do not have our organisation.”

The Swindon players will be confident of beating anyone at the moment having already seen off sides in every division this season, while they have tasted defeat just once in their last 21 games.

Two wonder goals from in-form winger Matt Ritchie sealed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Rotherham last time out, and Di Canio has backed his side’s brand of football to cause problems for any team – no matter the league they play in.

“We will go there to win the game,” he added. “I say this because I believe we can beat any team if we play like we did against Rotherham – work hard, pass the ball and play football.

“What will be even better for us is that sometimes at this level the other team make it difficult for us to play football but two leagues above they play on the ground and pass and move.

“We can go through and beat them, no problem.”

Goalkeeper Wes Foderingham believes the changes in management, coupled with the volume of players that have come and gone at Leicester, could work in Swindon’s favour.

“They have been a bit hot and cold so far this season,” he said.

“They have been fantastic when they are on top form, but they still look like they haven’t quite gelled together yet.

“There has been a lot of money thrown at the side and a lot of movement in and out of the squad.

“That could play a part against them, we have done really well this season and I think we can take advantage of that.”

I love Di Canio. His push on the ref is one of my all time favourite footballing memories.

Paolo Di Canio :015: The Mussolini loving **** can **** off as far as I am concerned.

There's a lot to hate about Swindon.

Strangler Calderwood - I have not forgotten you!

And you, Steve White - you diving cheat!!

If we lose, it will be down to us ****ing it up rather than them being a superior side. I hope we absolutely take them apart - at least Di Canio has given us a hand by providing our players with that extra bit of motivation to win.

Don't you think that if F@@@@t had won he would have said the same about them?

Upto our lads to show them him the error of his ways ;)

Trying his best to work up a bit of additional interest in the game. The FA Cup needs this. If we play like we have done for most of this season we will probably fall short - if we play like we are capable of doing then we should be ok.

If Forest had beaten us, he'd be talking about how glad he was that he'd drawn them as they've been performing poorly in the league all season and were there for the taking.

Forget pushing the ref.... what about that goal!

Forget pushing the ref or any goal, what about catching the ball just because the Everton goalie was feigning injury? If I were Harry on that day I would have kicked him out of the club for doing that.

Pin it up on the board Nigel. Team talk done.

My thoughts exactly. At the end of the day, they're a League 2 side. We should be looking to win this comfortably.

The days seem long gone when teams from lower division seemed destined for a hammering when they played higher level teams. The game has changed so much particularly in terms of coaches having a better understanding of how to organise and negate the tactics of 'superior' teams. If this match was at Swindon then I would fancy them to go through - at the KP if we play well then I would expect a fairly narrow win. Frankly, I'm much more interested in how we compare with Southampton on Monday and how much confidence we've picked up from the win last Tuesday night.

True, but you very rarely see small teams get into the later rounds. You will see the occasional upset, but usually the higher division teams will prevail.
