WBA say it is because of their poor performances

WEST Bromwich Albion have today relieved Head Coach Roberto Di Matteo of his duties and placed him on gardening leave with immediate effect.

This was the unanimous decision of the Football Club's Board of Directors in light of a worrying sequence of results which has seen the Club lose 13 of their last 18 games in all competitions, winning only three.

First-Team Coach Michael Appleton will assume control of first-team affairs whilst the Club considers all available options for a new Head Coach.

Chairman Jeremy Peace said: "This has been a tough decision but we, as a Board, believe it is the right one to give the Club the best possible chance of remaining in the Barclays Premier League.

Absolutely crazy decision.

Completely understandable in my eyes. After a decent start they've turned to crap, the form they've been in over the last 18 games would definitely see them relegated if continued.

If only every team could finish top of the Premier League every season - then there would never be need to sack a football manager again. Ever.

Don't know why we're all so quick to say how ridiculous this decision is. A lot of people were saying that about us when we sacked Sousa, because they didn't see that he didn't see how unfit and how despondent the team were to him.

We don't know anything about the behind the scenes going on at the club or his methods.

Their record has been awful for a good while now. His departure has been on the cards for weeks. People gave up hope that things would improve.

Except he got them promoted just last season. It's a harsh decision I reckon.
