Why did Martin Allen get on fine at other clubs but couldn't last five minutes here?

Why did Megson take over full of determination and was ready to walk out after a few weeks?

Why did Ian Holloway come in, full of hope and expectation only to quickly become a shadow of the manager he'd proved to be before?

The common denominator is MM. He interferes, he makes football related decisions all the time. He thinks he knows better than anyone else. He is a cancer eating away at any manager trying to get on here. Not one manager has survived and prospered working for him. Even Redknapp quit on him and walked out and has also looked a far better manager since MM left Pompey.

That's why I don't judge IH or his predesessors. He was tempted here on the promise of money to spend and success to achieve and subsequently hasn't been allowed to do it his way. He has had to clear up MM's mess of a summer recruitment and still has to shield the squad from random foreigners turning up at the training ground with heavy walleted Agents.

I think MM can't be accused of not giving managers money.

He's naively given them too much money and saddled the club with a 18M debt.

He wouldn't allow Hollow to buy two wingers (don't know who but a lot of gold) when it became obvious we wouldn't make the play-offs..fair enough

When you look at the dross our signings have turned out to be.

Are keeper and back 4 were all here last year (inc Mattock)

I'd put Hume and Fryatt (yes) ahead of DJ and Howard

I'd put King and Weso ahead of Clemence and Oakley

Gradel and Levi (when fit) have got to be better than our 15 wingers this season

Add a couple of quality loans ala Hendrie + Bell

I think you will find most of those signings were by MM, his then director of football, and MM's pet agent, Barry Silkman.
