"I've decided that it is probably the right time for me to leave Leicester and you never know where I will end up," said Campbell.

He's also quoted by the same newspaper as saying...

"We'll see what happens in the future as regards which club I'll go to in the summer

I am not proving a point to anyone back at Leicester. I've got nothing to prove to them.

They decided to do what they did and I've decided to do what I've done. I am just enjoying life at Blackpool at the moment. I am enjoying playing, getting fit and staying injury free."

Steve Thompson, the man who made the calls to get Campbell to the club, couldn't be happier with how the striker is playing.

"DJ has been fantastic. He has worked his socks off since he's been here," said Thompson.

"The feedback we had off Leicester was that he was a quality player. He couldn't understand why he wasn't getting in at Leicester and we've given him a lifeline to sort his career out. He has been a breath of fresh air. He has come here and worked hard and he's enjoying it."

It is the same with your strikeforce as with your defence, you can't drop a player that is playing well! If DJ has any common sense he will know that!

Good move by Nige, because he knows he is a good player, but cant find an avenue to get him our team, and I would imagine he would of sat down and told him that!

We should do a Roy Keane, and vamp up his price! How long is he contracted with us for?

So let me get this right, when he was here he was a crap player and that was the reason he couldn’t get in the team but now he has gone out on loan and is scoring left, right and centre suddenly it’s the fact that he couldn’t fit in with Sir NP’s plans for the team. Right I think that is clear……

I think you will find that most on here called him a lazy **** who just simply looked like he didn't want to be at Leicester. Now he is scoring elsewhere and has said what he said it appears that the majority of people were right. Is this clearer for you?

No the reason he wasnt playing was because he was always offside.:icon_wink

Then you have to ask yourself why Blackpool is a better prospect than Lcfc?

Always off-side he is not like that nice Fryatt Chappy.

:icon_lol::icon_lol:

To be serious, Howard and Fryatt have created a good partnership and as soon as this happened it was always going to be difficult for DJ to get in the team. There may have been points in games where NP could have given DJ longer and tried to get him more involved but for whatever reasons this hasnt happened.

What surprised me was how people argued he wasnt good enough or didnt look interested based on the limited amount of time he has played this season.

I think that when you get signed for a considerable amount of money and then fail to deliver in the games for which you have been selected - and in fact have appeared to be playing at a sub-standard level, then you do have something to prove, both to the club that have paid for you and are paying your wages and to any potential suitor.
Players who say 'I have nothing to prove' do annoy - they are usually sitting on their over-paid behinds under-performing without a shred of guilt or the decency to own up that they should be doing better. I happened to think some time ago and said so on these boards last season, that DJ was a quality player who would do well... but when he eventually got his chances in the team he was frankly, dismal and disappointing. The descriptions of 'lazy' and 'disinterested' by TB'ers were absolutely right.

He has played one full game for us all season how can you judge whether he has been putting in sub standard performances? :102:

And how is he supposed to raise his games if he isnt given the time on the pitch?

Last season?

The same would apply to Howard, Oakley, Fryatt etc. etc.

But they have been given the chance this season to prove what they can do, albeit against pretty shite opposition most weeks.

Campbell hasn't

Campbell also scored more goals in less appearances then Fryatt last season.

So who would you drop to put Campbell in the team?

Fryatt obviously impressed the manager pre-season, and has grabbed his chance.

Campbell was obviously not happy about not being in the team, maybe he wanted to go out on loan rather than stay and fight for a starting place.

I dont think Homer was arguing Campbell should be in the team just pointing out that others didnt play well last seaosn either.

Fryatt and Howard deserve to be up front. I was only pointing out that Campbell hasnt played, yet people are saying he has been rubbish for us.
