Do I want promotion?

Dead right I do but the premiership games Ive watched this season makes me wonder why - I'm sick to the back teeth of watching the diving , spitting , shirt pulling , moaning and cheating tossers in the premier lge - I feel that champship games are much more enjoyable to watch - well our games anyway - it just makes me feel apprehensive in that if we do go up does it mean we will have to behave in the same way - not the sort of footy I like to watch - sorry rant over back to me chard

Do we want to go up and lose the majority of our games and survive by the skin of our teeth?
I do.

Plenty of pointless feckin' moaning, that's for sure. :icon_roll

I wish people would stop moaning about all the moaning

Footballers: Desperate people in a desperate world. The Prem is the most desperate world.

Winning isn't everything, but losing is nuffink, nuffink I tell ya.

I kind of agree with the original post. This season has been great so far. If we get promoted, I doubt next season will be anything like as much fun.

That said, I'd rather that we do go up and at least give it a go. But I do wonder how much we'll all enjoy being belittled by the media every week during our inevitable relegation battle, and celebrating a draw against Norwich like it's a cup win.

And I'm sure you'll all love the increased ticket prices and even more wankerish away fans down Filbo Way.

Anyway, let's hope we get the chance to find out how shit it will be...

I said similar a while back and was labelled as defeatist. £50 to watch the likes of Stoke etc at weird(er) times does not appeal.

Maybe we could win the league, set off a few fireworks have an open top bus parade, breathe a big sigh of relief and say ......
"Nah it's not really worth it, especially having to play the likes of Stoke"

As long as they give us the £90m

Living abroad, I'm sure there are only positives, but for a home supporter with a season ticket there is a lot to be worried about.

:icon_bigg very true. Although it's a pain in the arse time whatever.

I've not been a regular attendee for many a year, but some of my happiest memories were as a result of getting promoted the second time around in the 90s. Prior to that we had been a very unfashionable team. There even seemed a fear of being promoted, was it Martin George quoted at the Blackburn playoff final as saying something along the lines of "If we go up, we're ****ed".

True the majority of teams in the Prem are playing for survival, but what else is a realistic option to aim for?

There is a sensible argument to be made here - i.e. paying more, losing more, struggling to get tickets, more commercialisation, being part of the crapper aspects of football etc.

However, those arguments are far outweighed by aspiration in my opinion. Sure, if you knew for a fact that we'd finish in the bottom 3, having won away only a couple of times in the year, then it probably would be much more fun to be in the Championship. But, there would be the aspiration to consolidate and then improve. Plenty of teams have proven that they compete after promotion and get into the top half of the Prem and possibly Europe, with some really exciting results along the way - that is clearly preferable to life in the Championship (notwithstanding cost arguments).

So, yes, I want to be in the Prem. But we have to get there first...
