I've had no problems here whereas in Leicester I got constantly abused for having long hair. Maybe they were complements and I just didnt realise huh?

i used to have long hair and went out in leicester quite often, never had any trouble. are you sure there wasn't alternative reasons for this? such as confusing a shopping centre with somewhere you might live in?

I have long hair - most probably longer than yours. I get no abuse, perhaps you were just a prat and people didn't take to you well..

Yeah people who i've never even spoken to, just passing in the street. Really merits an insult dont it? Not wanting to cause an argument here, was just pointing out that leicester is no Mecca, not by a long shot. If you guys can't
take a little bit of criticism regarding the place you live then I guess that makes you a tad agrophobic.

Keep telling yourself that ;)
Leicester is a city on its knees, as a city there is nothing happening for it and nothing is going to happen there in the near future, no one wants to build there.
There's diversity here, its a social goldmine, less chavs (sorry if you are one) and its a damn sight friendlier too.

Apart from the Shires Extension,
The re-development of the Haymarket
The mass re-development around De Mont Uni
The planned business quarter.
The largets skyscraper outside of London I think.
And much more.

Did you last visit Leicester in the 90's or something? :102:

Also no diversity anywhere in Leicester is there! :icon_lol:

And get a hair cut you long haired gay! ;)

I can't wait for Dunc to read this, I think he'll set you straight on one or two things.

As proved by Lako and Dunc when I had an argument on here about our lack of stuff to do. Leicester has currently got a lot stuff getting done.

The city has more cranes than any other in the Midlands.

Some of the places I have been in my travelling make me glad I live in Leicester.

i don't live in leicester you tool, hence why it says "from: Gateshead" but you probably think that is in leicester?

The largest skyscraper outside of London?!?!?
Don't think so...Canary Wharf is only JUST a skyscraper I think it qualifies by about 14ft so I doubt Leicester's new swanky towerblock of flats will be a skyscraper in the true sense of the word.
Don't want to cut my hair either

The Eurostar moving to Kings Cross will also make a huge difference to all towns within 2 hours commute of it. Leicester is building as a city hugely.

Something like that along the River Soar. I too do not live in Leicester currently so am not 100% up to date with facts, just going by what I read here and there. Hopefully someone will know what I'm on about.

Also I must revise my knowledge on how a building is a sky scraper. Can you remind me what the qualifying height is?

Was only tounge in cheek comment about the hair, although it really could do with a trim at least!.

No offence to anyone that lives there but on a personal level I won't be moving back there in a hurry.
Nowt there for me

Compared to a bigger City then yes, I am just about to finish Uni in Manchester and will be moving back to Leicester, not looking forward to that! :(

Don't want to make any enemies on here anyway, maybe should have kept my opinion to myself in hindsight. Still want Leeds to stay up. You can slat eme on that if you wish, but I have my obvious reasons

I can honestly say the only other city I've ever been to where I can say 'Yes I could live here' would be Sheffield. Great place that.

Yeh there and I hear Newcastle is good. :icon_lol:

to visit it is, to live it becomes irritating as its just stag do's and charva's on nights out. the quayside is good in the summer. i prefer west gateshead personally ;)

Really! You're going a funny way about it!

I lived in Leicester (incidentally, one of the most affluent cities in Europe), for 18 years, whenever anyone says to me "where are you from?", I say, I live in Northants, but I'm from Leicester.

I spent a year or so in Leeds working in a computer centre for a well known clothing store. I have also worked all over the UK, and I think I can honestly say, that Leeds was one of the most hostile and unfriendly places I've ever worked.

I hope they go down. It couldn't happen to a nicer manager :098:
