Disagree. I reckon he'll become a decent manager - but too early to take something on this size. He's yet to be at club with expectation for success (or at least some kind of reasonable standard).

But isn't that just the problem. Isn't it about time this club and its supporters stopped expecting success - or alternatively reassessed their definition of success to something more realistic and achievable?

I think an expectation of not leaving the Championship through its arse end is a fair and reasonable one to have.

The players seem to have done that so why shouldn't the fans follow?

Me too.

I've long reconciled myself to the fact that the days of top ten finishes in The Prem and League Cup finals are long gone.

But we've always been a club in my lifetime who were there or thereabouts when it comes to challenging to get in - or fighting to stay in- the top flight...

This season Stoke, Birstol City and Hull have all made a great challenge - is it too much to expect to 8-10 points behind them...

Agreed. Any club with any sniff of success in the past 25 years will always have some expectation though - it's how a fan works. Though I think a good percentage of City fans want just an average season with some effort and some decent wins along the way. It's a small minority who think we should be the Premiership and that extreme that appeals to the media and club.

The club could start the reassessment by stopping silly mottos at the start of the season and the use of the soundbite 'a Premiership set-up' :icon_roll.

The expectation to be in the play-offs as suggested by some as nothing more but drags us down in to thinking 'we should be better than this' that applies to the players and management.

All I wanted to be this season was a Bristol City, a Plymouth, an Ipswich - something average but with encouraging football and players.

We Should Be Better Than This !!!

I agree totally that would not be unreasonable and we should be satisified with it.
Even then it would still rank as one of our poorest seasons for 50 years!!!!

For every fan that has high expectations there is one that says "But look at For*st and Leeds, it happened to them".

The only benefit in having low expectations is that you won't be disappointed when you end up in the gutter.

No - absolutely not.

It's time Mandaric made a decent managerial appointment; it's time we had someone of substance to sort out the unmotivated wasters who masquerade in the City shirt.

What you and people of similar views are implying that we should drop our expectations to the level that managers like Holloway can cope with and turn the club into a Northampton Town or Bradford City. I don't think so - what we need is high but reasonable targets - i.e. we should be competing towards the top end of the fizzy league and looking for a spell in the premiership asap. That is what ought to be achievable given the resources made available. All low expectations lead to is low achievements. Holloway Out!

But the only reason they are where they are is because MM got lucky with Redknapp. He's appointed loads of managers in his time at Portsmouth and Leicester, and only one turned out to be any good - and he was originally appointed as director of football!

How many managers are we going to have at Leicester before we get one capable of getting promoted (from whichever division we happen to be in at the time...) ?

you could argue if he didnt chop and change so much there he wouldnt have got to redknapp :)

he did support redknapp with signings.

Dont get me wrong MM is not a great chairman but he is better then the last one.

According to the wiki Dowie's record is:-

Queens Park Rangers P2 W1 D1 L0 50.00% won
Oldham Athletic P82 W31 D23 L28 37.80% won.
Crystal Palace P123 W50 D44 L29 40.65% won.
Charlton Athletic P12 W2 D8 L2 16.66% won.
Coventry City P43 W18 D17 L8 41.86 %won.

And he's got a degree in Engineering.
Could come in handy as we need to engineer something quickly.

IF MM is booting out Ollie, and Ollie knows it, then it leaves us in a strange situation for Sunday doesn't it ? What's in it for him ?
Bizarre.

you shake all about ...you do the okey cokey and you turn around
And you end up with a manager like this! Ohhh....

Agree entirely. The possibility/probability that we will be celebrating our 125th year way down in the bowels of Division 3 for the first time in our history will be the biggest failure this club has ever had, bar none.
