Anyone know of anywhere where I can go to get ear wax removed.

I can hear absolutely nothing through my left ear and have been like this for a week and a half - I have been using ear drops and olive oil.

Went to the doctors this morning, she said "oh gosh I can see why it's causing you problems they definitely need syringing" unfortuantely they can't get me in until June 7th and this isn't good enough.

Feel like I'm living in a bubble and I'm missing phone calls at work due to not hearing them and feel like I'm going to fall over when walking.

If anyone could help or point me in the direction of a potential solution it would be much appreciated - I called an Ear Speacialist on London Road and they quoted me a proce of £400 which I would do if I could afford.

Cheers

Call your docs and tell them it's getting in the way of your work and life in general, should bump you up the queue. 7th june is ludicrous.

Why the **** have you to wait till June? Why didn't the doctor just do it there and then? It only takes a couple of mins

You could try the 247 centre (in London Road, opposite Viccy Park) - or is that where you tried?

It's ridiculous that you have to wait 3 weeks to have it done at your own surgery.

Dont pay 400 quid Paul!

I had my ears syringed once (used a cotton bud to try and get some wax out and ended up pushing it further in) and it was quite a nice experience having hot water swirling round your ears!

I've done this and they said well there's nothing we can do, we only do it Monday afternoons and we are all booked up until 7th June.
I even rang back after my appointment and told them it is ridiculous, they weren't interested. Seems it can only be done when convenient to them.

My thoughts exactly.

heat about a tablespoon of olive oil, put it in ear then get some cotton wool but put a bit of vaseline on it then place it in ear so the cotton wool doesnt absorb the oil

Is that not an eye clinic? I tried The London Road clinic and they are the ones that quoted £400

I couldn't even if I wanted to, got the grand total of £50 in my bank until payday!

Looking at their website, it seems to be something like a private GP with a wide range of services.

Alternatively you could return to your own GP, have a serious dizzy spell and if they still won't do it straight away, vomit on their carpet.

Rang the one at LRI, all they said was that they can't help.

Are you sure thats what they said ? :icon_lol:

The benefit of speaker phone and people sitting near me hearing the same thing makes me pretty sure. Unless they're all taking the piss. :icon_bigg

give my post a whirl pds, my OH does this as he suffers quite a lot with waxy ears and he was told to do it this way by his gp
