On a positive note, Vardy and Maguire will have plenty of time to prepare for it, as they’ll both be back home by the end of June!

The sentiment of this is totally reasonable but the reality is that we have plenty enough money and more than enough time to prepare a squad for a foray into Europe. We should be excited about it, not looking at every little thing that could possibly go wrong. What about if it goes right?

Well despite everything that’s been said on this thread in the past couple of weeks, with the realisation tonight that catching Burnley is going to be incredibly difficult from here, I for one am pretty gutted that we’re going to miss out on Europe.

Judging by comments on here, a lot of our fans are unexcited by Europa League.

Perhaps the players are the same.

Maybe they don't want to fly thousands of miles to unheard of places and would prefer to have more time off between seasons to enjoy their wages.

There's probably something in their contracts to say they'll get a bonus for qualifying for the Europa League.

Then when it comes to the matches, there are often appearance bonuses. Plus possible bonuses based on how far they go in the competition.

The players (the ones who aren't given extra time off because of the world cup) would normally return to training at the start of July.
Our first Europa League qualifying game would be at the end of July. So there's time to get players ready to play against the team that came third in the Luxembourg league, even without our world cup players, and without having to drag anyone off a beach.
