I think 2M is too little....6M is ridiculous.....i think somewhere inbetween would be fair...3.5M with a couple of add ons would be a great deal for us.

If you look at what we got for Matty Piper, when he had only played a handful of games for us, no international recognition, and nowadays is a far more inflated market - we should theoretically get a lot more for Mattock. However, I can't see MM rejecting an offer of over £2m to be honest.

I see the speculation about Mattock and Everton as a marketing device reminding clubs of his availability.

£2m sets a bench mark for hopefully a bidding competition amongst middle ranking Premiership clubs who are potentially willing to make an investment in a highly promising English player who is still some way way from being ready for first team football at their level.

i don't think it's in Mattock's interests to play Third Division football so I'm pretty certain he will be gone before the start of the season.

Me too. I expect to see a left back signed in the next few days or weeks.

We may indeed need 2 left backs.

Yes - as I indicated earlier in this thread the appearance of the Everton story was most likely to 'stimulate the market'.

I also indicated that my guess was that he was quite likely to join Villa.

I know - I definitely recall you posting before he was even born that he would be going to the Villa.

On another note - half-decent left backs are not easy to locate. I appreciate that it's probably the best for all parties that he should go, but it will create a problem.

Actually he has already told us about it, he stuck his neck out and said Mattock will be gone by the end of next month. :icon_lol:
