Man City have spent about £500million and have not 'bought' the Premier League title yet!

The money helps, but it is still down to the manager to work the magic. Holloway most certainly did not buy promotion.

If we do "buy promotion", who gives a shit what they think.
Agreed - anyone would think we've been spending 100s of millions - some premier lge clubs have spent more than us on ONE player

Incidentally, with regards to SGE being a "lucky" manager over his career, which managers currently in English football currently do they actually think have better CVs than SGE?

Ferguson, Wenger, Dalglish and Mancini, fair enough (though you could easily argue SGE has a CV as good as any of those last three). Can't think of anyone else though.

If he's simply been "lucky" to reach 5 European finals, win 5 national league titles and 7 domestic cups and to be the only manager ever to win the league and cup double in 3 different countries then thank **** we have that kind of luck on our side.

He's certainly been the luckiest England manager since Sir Ralf.

I'd guess that when Sven was England manager there were some journalists he favoured over others. I think some of the bad press he's getting is some of the less favoured press getting their own back.
At the end of the day, who gives a flying **** what they think?

Of course Sven is lucky. Wasn't he lucky to become manager of Gothenberg, Benfica and Lazio just before they became so successful.

I don't think he favoured any of the press, which was the problem. Same with Capello. Yet get in a rent a quote manager like Redknapp and the press will be in clover till the players **** it up for him too.
