Re: Martin Fulop

First proper keeper we have had since Keller IMO.

Saw Keller play last night. A touch less hair and a touch more waistline, but apart from that still much as he was. He's a rarity nowadays - a keeper who catches (& throws) the ball.

Re: Martin Fulop

His parents were over last night to watch him...they must have been proud!

Re: Martin Fulop

Both Marton (Martin) and Fulop (Philip) (sorry I can't put in the accents) can be either Christian or surnames, but in my experience Marton is a much more common surname, and Fulop a more common Christian name, the other way round to our chap's name.

However, in Hungary, the surname is always put first - so on any Hungarian teamsheet he would appear as Fulop Marton (but with the accents).

Just thought I'd bore you all :icon_wink

On the contrary, my fascination with your post has kept me away from my work for a while.

Thanks ;)

Re: F?l?p M?rton

And I'd like on about Márton Fülöp, but you can't get everything. :icon_wink

You've now got a Fülöp Márton thread - which is how it would be put in his own country.

Re: F?l?p M?rton

I think the key thing is that in most post match reviews this season there has always been a line that says: Fulop kept Leicester level......etc etc.
Annoyingly the majority of our keepers in the past few years have not got anywhere near shots that are good enough to be a goal.
great signing.
Also good that in every right up there is also a line about Clemence having several shots on goal.
That's got to start paying off sooner or later.

Re: F?l?p M?rton

Are you lot serious. Better than walker, not a chance. The guy is a good shot stopper, but unfortunately it doesn't go much further than that. communication is poor with the defence. cross claiming is weak and kicking is also. I think he is much of a muchness and is very well a lower half championship goalkeeper.

I agree he is the best goalkeeper at the club atm ( rab's on loan of course ;) ), but I dont think he is a long term solution and there is better to be had. He did pull off excellent saves against Villa, but his positioning and decision making is all over the place.

I think to progress properly to the prem we need a good solid keeper, someone like Kelvin Davies or Jimmy Walker.

That's very harsh on Fulop. Is he really that weak?

No, of course he isn't. But I do have some sympathy with the view that as he is the best we have at present maybe he is looked upon in a better light.
