Am i the only one who thinks the tickets are a very reasonable price? Can't argue with £20 although i guess they must be cheap cos it is on the tv. Nevertheless that is still good and it should be a full house. Half our team will crap themselves playing to a full Walkers!

Thought it was £15..

well i know it is a bummer for the majority but i am pleased! devon means i cant afford to make the trip too often!!!

Not without looking them up again!

Off the top of my head I think there was a train to Brum at around 21:10, connecting with a train that gets into London after midnight.

The one to Peterborough leaves at something like 21:20, with a very short connection time when you get there, although I think there's a later Peterborough to London train if you miss the connection.

Thanks Jeff. With those approximations in mind, I'll look them up. I can't get any of the rail sites to give Leicester to London via either Peterborough or Birmingham in one go, so i'll look up the separate parts of the journey.

Mind you, I have just been talking about it to the travel-fuhrer and it may be a minibus. A 140 minute journey on a 4-car Meridian after a dash to the station does nor seem very attractive and if we get enough to go, a minibus will work out quite cheap.

Thanks again for the Brum/Peterborough suggestion and times.

Surely they'll get a move on with the escort if that's the last train though?

The escort normally gets to the station no earlier than 5:55. That means that they would have to speed it up by 16 minutes - I wouldn't have thought that was physically possible.

No you're not.

At £15 season ticket holders will be paying only £3 more than they paid to watch Blackpool earlier in the season and £10 LESS than they paid to watch the game at Leeds last week.

I expected them to be at least £5 more expensive all round.

The Sheff Utd fans certainly got to the station before then - and I'd have thought that was one of the larger (therefore slower) escorts.

Anyway I'm sure the police would be able to 'request' that the train waits for the fans to arrive, rather than risk having loads of Spurs fans stranded in Leicester.

I don't think they were much before then. There was a special train waiting for them in Platform 1 and that was still there when I left at 6 o'clock, I think.

I don't think MML will be keen to let that train wait at all. It is routed via Oakham and Corby and with quite a bit of that route being single line, it will also affect the trains running up from London. In any case, I think it is all a bit academic because Spurs fans are going to do the same as the London Branch have - they'll look at the slowness of the trains and the fact that there is only one awkwardly timed train to come home on - and then they'll either come by road or stay at home and watch it on the telly. The worst nightmare for MML would be if several HSTs full of fans came up on the half-hourly services in the afternoon and all expected to get back on one 4-car Meridian.

Just checked the trains again and the minibus looks like being your best bet.

The 'train' from Leicester to Birmingham on that night is a bus, and if you go va Peterborough there's a bus between Peterborough and Huntingdon.
