From the BBC website:

If the Magpies secure a place in the quarter-finals of the European competition then their FA Cup match will be played on Sunday because their Uefa Cup encounter is scheduled for the previous Thursday.

"A decision regarding which games will be played on which days, and at what particular time will be made later this week after Newcastle's Uefa Cup tie," said Bevington.

"Our first priority in that decision will be the safety and security of supporters as well as their travelling plans."

Now I appreciate that the Geordies are involved in the UEFA Cup, but it really fecks me off that there's one rule for a Premier League team in Europe and another for a Championship club. Our FA Cup match against Blackburn gets scheduled 48 hours before our next league fixture and on a sunday when there's feck-all transport to get supporters to the game.

It was the Football League who refused to move the Watford game - it wasn't the FA's fault

The FA have always agreed to move games for those involved in european games, as they clearly see the benefits

The Football League, however, are (allegedly) a bunch of incontinent chimps who don't give a flying fook

And don't forget that we cheated our way out of administration and got promoted as a direct result of our conniving, dirty, cheating underhand ways

But we asked the FA to put our FA cup game on the Saturday. It was only when the FA refused to do this that we asked the league to move the Watford game.

But we asked the FA to put our FA cup game on the Saturday

Did we ?

Don't remember seeing that - but I bow to your superior knowledge, as ever

City first voiced their concerns about the fixture pile-up a fortnight ago and after a request for a Saturday quarter-final date fell on deaf ears last Thursday when the FA Cup dates were finally announced an official request was sent to the League.

The FA has hardly any say on which game gets played when. i think you will find the bbc decided that we will play on the sunday. so it's the leagues responcability to move our league game.
