BR, I wish the bloke all the best.
Many who remember Filbo, if they're like me, looking at photo's of the model will have lump in the throat as they think back to their first game, first night game, most memorable match etc etc.

New stadiums are very nice but lack character.
Maybe over time today's young 'uns may look back over their years at the Walkers/KP with the same fondness as I have for Filbo.
I hope so, but I doubt it.

Hello Everyone,

The model took over 800 hours to build, Cost £100's in materials, Donated it F.O.C to LCFC, Collected Nearly £400 from advert sales for LOROS and the geezer that built it has lost all use in his R/H side following serious illness. Cheers

There were numerous messages of support/congratulations/gratitude, but they got deleted en masse with a load of sniping and negative comments.

A big well done to the chap who built it and indeed all those involved in getting it to the attention of the public where many people can enjoy it.

As I said, not many things bring as much pleasure of true craftsmanship when applied to a labour of love.

I only got a few seasons at Filbo, I'm nearly 20 now and it seems like such a distant, although very fond memory. My filbo memories pretty much pale into insignificance compared to those of other fans, but Muzzy's winner against Liverpool on the coldest night I've ever experienced, Ade's ridiculous over-celebration against Sunderland and Gerry scoring against Red Star are all moments I'll never forget. I still get a little flutter when I walk past the terrace house behind the east stand.

I also remember being so disgusted by the Wycombe loss that I took off my shirt and walked all the way back to the car with it in my hand.

Well said that man! Fantastic work and great that it's got a place in our new home.

That's wonderful, that really is. Stuff like this is what makes football worth all the bullshit that goes with it. Hats off to Micky and all who helped him, and I hope his health improves soon.

I better point out that Micky had a massive brain hem in 2003, saw him at the BR funday and was in real good spirits. He'll be down the Derby game I bet

Fantastic effort, I will never have the patience or skill to do anything of that scale, glad there are people who can, and most importantly, do.

I went to my first game there in 1997 - Matt Elliot's debut - and still have much more fond memories of FS than the KP stadium. My personal highlight is still that 3-3 draw with Arsenal.

Sorry to hear about the illness but good model though. :038:

One general question, was there a Foxes Trust advertising hoarding at the old ground as well?

For the elderly pedants amongst us, an earlier version of the ground (from the early 1960's) would lose all those advertising hoardings. Eddie Plumley, the old club secretary, loftily proclaiming that adverts around the pitch were not in keeping with a club of Leicester City's ilk.

Good job, Micky, anyhoo!!!

I believe this man has a disability of some kind, and for him to produce such a detailed and precise model is amazing. Very excellent!

A lot of the ads are new. Maybe there was some kind of sponsorship involved.
Indeed. My point was accuracy. My earliest memories of going to Ninian Park were seeing the giant Captain Morgan Rum slogan on the Bob Bank roof, and if we were lucky enough to have someone produce a replica of this quality, I'd like to think the authenticity wouldn't be compromised at all.
Just seems like putting a Nike swoosh on a Spitfire.

There were adverts at the ground for many years, some stayed for years, others changed by the season, so you would struggle to get 100% accuracy, however on the basis each advert was " sold" to support a worthy local charity, we think that was a compromise worth making and also the Trust wanted to show it's backing for such a fantastic model
