Anybody got any idea how I can display a table (with some blank cells) on TB?

Jeff?

If you have the table formatted using a fixed width font you can paste it into a post and then use the 'code' tag around it, which should keep the formatting.

For example:

Code:
Cardiff 10	7	2	1	22	8	23	14
Birmingham	10	5	3	2	14	11	18	3
Burnley 10	5	2	3	18	12	17	6
Preston 10	4	5	1	11	8	17	3
C Palace	10	5	2	3	13	11	17	2
Southampton	10	4	4	2	15	11	16	4
West Brom	10	4	4	2	14	10	16	4
Plymouth	10	4	4	2	15	12	16	3
Wolves 10	5	1	4	8	10	16	-2
Derby 10	4	3	3	15	13	15	2
Luton 10	4	3	3	15	15	15	0
Ipswich 10	4	2	4	14	13	14	1
Colchester	10	4	2	4	13	13	14	0
Sunderland	10	4	1	5	14	14	13	0
Coventry	10	4	1	5	8	8	13	0
QPR 10	3	3	4	12	14	12	-2
Norwich 10	3	2	5	15	18	11	-3
Barnsley	10	3	2	5	15	21	11	-6
Leicester	10	2	4	4	6	9	10	-3
Leeds 10	3	1	6	9	15	10	-6
Stoke 10	1	6	3	9	11	9	-2
Southend	10	2	3	5	9	17	9	-8
Hull City	10	2	2	6	8	14	8	-6
Sheff Wed	10 4	5	6	10	7	-4

mmm

My table is smaller than the example you give, but I get an error messages saying that I have used too many characters.

Can you go through it slowly for me, explaining exactly what you did to display that table, please.

What was the exact wording of the error message?

Are you putting html into the post?
If you are that will cause problems.

All I did was posted the text into a post, then put the code tags around it.

Which program is the table coming from?

Error message is: The text that you have entered is too long (10373 characters). Please shorten it to 10000 characters long. And in 'preview mode', it displays everything in one long verticla line

No html

From Word - which I suspect is the problem.

There's no way something that small should be over 10,000 characters. Word adds a load of junk in the formatting, which isn't needed.

Try copying from word and pasting it into notepad, then copying it from notepad into the forum. Putting it into notepad first should get rid of all the excess characters.

I thought of that and did it while you were replying. The spaces between the figures all disappear.

Just tried my last suggestion and it didn't work, it won't save the text format properly.

What I've also tried which did work is to copy the table from word to Excel, then from Excel into the forum, soi if you have Excel that would be the easiest way. Although I suspect if you have Excel you'd have used that to create it in the first place!

Does it work from Excel then? That was the first think I tried with no success.

Just tried pasting it inside
Code:
from Excel and I just get a long horizontal string with no spaces.

This is how it turns out when I copy-and-paste from Excel:

I was having exactly the same problem earlier in the year with the ungoogleable music quiz league table.

Despite your help then Jeff I sill couldn't get it to work. I ended up having to host the file with an external link to it
